About the role
The pricing actuary is primarily responsible for pricing complex casualty treaty reinsurance business in the Swiss-Re defined Regional & National client segment. Relevant lines of business include general liability, motor/ automobile liability, workers compensation/ employer's liability and umbrella liability. This responsibility entails carefully reviewing and summarizing account data, analyzing it and performing deal pricing by quantifying the impact of various contract features, underwriting exposures and legal, regulatory and societal trends while using state of the art actuarial pricing models and techniques. The job activities include but are not limited to the following:
• Summarizing and validating client submission data, and managing databases
• Pricing accounts independently and peer reviewing the pricing work of colleagues
• Ability to work on a range of accounts including complex deal structures and large, structured transactions
• Building underwriting skills and acumen and potentially taking underwriting decisions on a limited basis
• Taking a leadership role in testing of pricing tools and parameter task forces
• Assisting in establishing actuarial inputs/assumptions for business planning and portfolio management
• Participating in various cross functional teams and projects, and providing best actuarial practices
• Participating in broker and client visits, audits, and renewal meetings
• Effectively communicating the pricing analysis to the cross-functional deal teams including senior management
• External representation within key industry groups e.g. ISO and NCCI committees, CAS
About the team
The Regional & National Client Segment team is responsible for a diverse range of nearly ~170 US ceding companies, including direct and broker-produced business. The team includes senior actuaries and underwriters who work with corresponding client managers and other staff including claims, risk management, reserving, contracts specialists and legal. The team is based across Armonk, NY, Schaumburg IL and Overland Park KS and works with stakeholders in a number of Swiss Re offices including New York, NY and Westlake Village, CA.

About You
• Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS, FCAS) and Member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA) required, other industry designations e.g. CPCU, ARe, ARM desirable
• Seven to ten years of reinsurance casualty treaty pricing experience in the relevant lines of business
• University Undergraduate Degree required, advanced degrees preferred
• Math or Science background with excellent computer/data manipulation skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• The ability and desire to work well with other actuaries, underwriters and account executives in a cooperative and open manner, flexibility when working with remote locations
• Some travel required, < 25% estimated, primarily domestic within the US
• Team-oriented, pro-active and communicative, open and trustworthy; demonstrates collaboration and intercultural competence in own and cross-functional teams
