Description
OVERALL FUNCTIONS:
The Credit Analyst contributes to the profitability of the WSB’s loan portfolio by supporting the Bank’s Commercial Lenders. Assists Commercial Lenders in the analysis of financial statements, cash flows, credit analysis, pricing analysis and credit approval packages. Must be team oriented and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Requires self-direction, tact, diplomacy and a clear, courteous and professional manner when dealing with the public and other employees. Will be responsible for internal customer interaction that supports the development, acquisition and/or retention of customers. Self-starter with ability to adapt to change, work under pressure and attention to detail. Position that requires great customer service skills, positive attitude and expressed enthusiasm. Possesses the ability to develop business relationships.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
A single incumbent position reporting to the Commercial Loan Manager or designee(s). The position is responsible for gathering and analyzing credit information on current and potential borrowers; assists in determining the advisability of granting credit for diversified types of loans; assists loan officers in writing loan requests; promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new products and services.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
A. CUSTOMER RELATIONS
1. Maintain positive on-going relationships with existing customer base.
2. Project an image of professionalism and genuine concern in dealing with the public.
3. Inspires trust and confidence in clients through problem solving, listening carefully to client needs and by proactively recommending products and/or services.
4. Actively use the SERVICE Pledge for all service encounters: Smile, Eye contact, Refer to customers by name, Viable options – Never say no, Instant acknowledgement, Customers always come first, End with “Thank You”.

B. CUSTOMER SERVICE
1. Responsible for knowing WSB products and being able to articulate the advantages to the customer.

C. CUSTOMER DEVELOPMENT
1. Responsible for listening to the internal and external customer’s needs.
2. Responsible for making recommendations to the Loan Officer that will meet the customer’s needs and providing a simple description of the solution(s) that shows the benefits.
3. Assists in exploring business development opportunities with designated businesses.
4. Functions as a knowledgeable and professional representative of WSB internally and in the community.
D. CREDIT ANALYST
1. Reviews credit requests and assists lender as to the approval or denial of loan requests by:
a. Accurate and prompt analysis of financial statements and tax returns, utilizing financial analysis software as appropriate.
b. Assist the lenders with determining the appropriate loan product to fit the customer’s needs.
c. Authoring the appropriate credit authorization form.
d. Attending loan committees and participating in the presentation of the loan.
2. Periodically updates and reviews outstanding loan financial information as determined by conditions of the initial credit authorization and as appropriate.
3. Prepares credit analysis by spreading financial statements/tax returns and completing applicable forms in a manner consistent with loan policy, laws, rules and regulations and provide feedback to loan officers regarding concerns or questions that arise while performing the analysis.
4. Discuss topics with the loan officers so that they have an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the borrowing entity.
5. Remains current on loan programs and lending regulations as well as compliance and bank policies and procedures including, but not limited to, a working knowledge of SBA and various external loan programs and products.
6. Has a complete working knowledge of WSB loan policies.
7. Works with Bank support staff updating financial tracking systems and collateral tracking systems, identifying outdated and missing items and assisting lenders in requesting them from borrowers.
8. Participates in the preparation of Bank reports specific to the Commercial Loan Department when asked.
9. Works with the lenders and support staff to ensure that financial analysis loan documentation is complete and correct prior to closing.
10. File maintenance as instructed.
E. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT
1. Participates in new business development efforts by participating in community events and organizations.
2. Assists Loan Officers with the sale of Bank products and services to customers/prospects through analyzing customer needs and recommending appropriate products.
3. Contributes to meeting the sales/marketing goals of all WSB departments and partners by:
a. Identifying and referring prospects.
b. Introducing the customer
c. Arranging an appointment or arranging for the appropriate department to contact the customer directly.
F. MISCELLANEOUS DUTIES
1. Actively participates in WSB continuing education
2. Performs duties while complying with Federal and State Laws and GBCI/WSB policies.
3. Must comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
4. Responsible for fulfilling the mission statement: “I will exceed the expected.”
5. Other duties as assigned.
6. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects as assigned.

Requirements
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education and Experience:
a. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Business, Finance or Accounting from a four-year college or university preferred.
b. Six months experience in a financial/banking role with previous credit analysis job duties preferred.
c. Equivalent combination of education and experience
