Description CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP one of the nation’s largest public accounting and professional services firm with more than 50 years of experience of providing excellent service to our clients is seeking to hire a State and Local Government Audit Manager/Director to support our Public Sector group in Baltimore, MD.
•Oversee the efforts of multiple client engagements and act as a resource for engagement team members through application of extensive knowledge and experience
•Manage, supervise, train and lead staff through counsel, guidance and coaching. Evaluate performance and conduct individual's performance appraisals
•Provide recommendations for business and process improvements based upon knowledge gained relative to the client’s operations, processes, and business objectives
•Lead the decision-making process for assigned engagements/clients; keep the engagement principal fully informed of major decisions, engagement progress, client’s situation, and potential problems
•Help aid in recruitment, resolve problems, providing direct consultation to staff, and acting as an instructor or discussion leader in professional development programs
•Evaluate internal controls and audit programs prepared by staff, and revise as necessary
•Follow the engagement progress through monitoring time budgets and deadlines for adherence
•Communicate important attention to client management; and prepare final client meetings
Requirements •Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
•5+ years of public accounting experience with emphasis in financial statement preparation, audits, reviews, and compilations
•Prior experience servicing clients in the Public Sector – State & Local Government preferred
•Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS), etc.
•Current CPA licensure required
•Ability to travel to client sites
•Advanced technical knowledge of audit and accounting concepts and standards, preferably specific to State and Local government
•Demonstrate ability to manage client relationships
•Strong communication and analytical skills
•Ability to show strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
•Dynamic interpersonal manner with the capacity to develop and train staff through supervised practice
•Communicate effectively with councils and boards in a public setting
•Excellent client service orientation with an ability to expand services and develop new business
