POSITION SUMMARY:
The Investment Accountant II position for Global Financial Services (GFS) Performance Reporting team will produce/review/disseminate performance data for products falling under the TIAA umbrella including the two-tiered Separate Accounts, 529 Plan Investment Options, TIAA Real Property Fund and the TIAA Real Estate Account. Role will assist with pricing oversight and will provide assistance with preparation of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Oversee the following functions:
• Validate/Analyzes performance results for net/gross returns, benchmark returns and SEC yields for funds/accounts. Able to critically review performance fluctuations and explain variances.
• Performs pricing validation checks.
• Supports the Legal department with prospectus filings by providing performance data in a timely manner.
• Provides relevant, timely and accurate performance reporting to senior management of the company.
• Interacts with Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Product and other areas both internal and external.
• Assists with the validation, analysis, and dissemination of Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS) composite presentations and related data.
• Performs technical research and responds to ad-hoc requests.
• Assists with project work including system and process improvements.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills, Certification(s), Degree(s) and/or License(s):
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
• 2 – 4 years of experience working with investment products (such as mutual funds, 529 Plans, stocks, bonds)
• Experience in performance reporting, fund accounting or fund administration
• Ability to multi-task effectively and to remain highly organized in a deadline driven environment while maintaining strict attention to detail.
• Technically proficient with capability to develop and maintain automated worksheets and reporting tools.
• Ability to calculate performance returns using the Modified Dietz and IRR methodology.
Desired Skills:
• GAAP knowledge preferred
• CPA preferred
• CIPM candidate preferred
• Possesses excellent oral and writing skills
• Strong analytical skills and ability to perform research independently
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and stand-alone setting
• Working knowledge of Confluence’s Unity Platform preferred
