Plans, manages and executes all elements of BNY Mellon-hosted event projects in accordance with the standards of quality, excellence and cost control established for BNY Mellons Corporate Events group. Serves as project lead for moderate to highly complex events, enlisting support from more junior staff or peers. Frequent interaction with executive leaders. Superior communication and event management skills required. This position requires frequent travel and off hours/weekend work when needed. Manages a diverse variety of highly complex business events, elements of which include, but are not limited to agenda development, preparation and proofing of written/graphic materials, vendor/site research, contract negotiation, expense management, food and beverage selection, audio visual management, budget reconciliation, event analysis and statistics, including client engagement, and competitive intelligence. Applies event industry trends, market climates and competitive activities, and recommends ways to leverage opportunities to colleagues and senior leaders. Has increased business acumen and solid working knowledge of our key business activities. Contributes to the development and implementation of event plans and results measurement. Influences the host of the project to develop the event profile (goal, responsibilities, budgets, timelines, etc.) scheduling the date of the event, securing venues, negotiating contracts, planning and coordinating the event and frequently providing on-site management. Establishes good working relationships with internal teams. Gains agreement with business partners and formulates decision criteria. Establishes collaborative relationships with multiple business stakeholders and external partners to align activities to key strategic objectives. Adheres to standard operating procedures. Suggests opportunities for improvements. Can take a creative idea, socialize it, and put it into practice Acts with a clear sense of accountability supporting functional or business initiatives. Proactively identifies obstacles and recommends solutions. No direct reports, provides guidance to less experienced staff. Leads projects to include assigning work and monitoring quality and completion. Manages to approved budget, submits expenses.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years in a related discipline or equivalent work experience required. Typically requires 8+ years of experience in meeting professional field, preferably financial services. Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification is a plus. This person will have experience organizing and managing events, conferences, and tradeshows.
