About Post Trade Settlement and Asset Servicing
The Post Trade Settlement and Asset Servicing operations department supports all settlement and asset servicing activity for the firm, Incorporated into this processing stream is various processing areas all of which are in support of multiple business lines. The areas are broken down into numerous groups that perform tasks relating to various areas of settlement and asset servicing. The groups incorporated under Entity Settlements, P&I, Dividends, Asset Servicing, Stock Loan, & International settlements each area provides support to after the trade related activity.
The group provides direct support to the sales and trading desk and interfaces with many other operational groups while moving hundreds of millions to billions of dollars in cash and securities on a daily basis. The group also forms part of the overall retained organisation looking after third party utility provider.
Role Purpose
Provide overall support to various business groups utilizing specialist skills obtained through either continued education or industry exposure to various processing streams. This individual will act as an overall specialist on various settlement processing activities. Overall specialist skills in one or more of the various principle activates with the Settlement and asset servicing operations team. Products include US and non-US equities, corporate bonds and US treasuries. Responsible for assisting in hiring, developing and retaining a highly qualified staff to carry out daily responsibilities of the areas and the various projects underway from time to time.
Ensure appropriate controls, process and procedures are in place and ensure the group delivers high quality of service to clients, whether internal or external. Initiate, organize and monitor the development of processes and systems. Interface with senior management and other business areas to ensure the accuracy and timeliness flow of information.
• Responsible for all activities and duties are carried out by the Settlement Teams to ensure full compliance with regulatory requirements, Barclays Operational Risk Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Standards.
• Accountable to manage risk and control across multiple Settlements Teams.
Key Accountabilities
• Managing regulatory requests and interfacing with regulators across multiple business lines.
• Managing internal and external audit requests across multiple business lines.
• Project Management – Working with key stakeholders on new business initiatives and process improvements.
• Vendor management and oversight of a Third Party Provider.
• Daily settlement processing and breaks resolution.
• Proactively look for areas of improvement within either the processes or tools within the function.
• Interacting and communicating effectively with Senior Management across the firm.
• Effectively interfacing with internal and external clients.
• Monitoring operational metrics and proactively take action to improve efficiency and productivity.
Person Specification
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors Degree.
• 8 plus years experience working at a Director level capacity.
• 8-10 years of settlements and asset servicing experience.
• 5 years of people management experience within a global organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters Degree.
• Strong understanding of Operations.
• Strong knowledge of various settlement platforms – i.e. DTC, Fed, Clearstream.
• Strong knowledge of various settlement systems - i.e. Broadridge BPS, IMPACT, Loanet. Global1.
• Strong knowledge of applicable regulations – i.e. Rule 204, 15c3-3, CASS.
• Strong understanding of the US, Canadian and LATAM markets.
• Strong knowledge of Asset Servicing and Dividend and P&I.
• Strong PC skills and systems knowledge with concentration in Microsoft Office.
• Must be a team oriented and must possess exceptional analytical skills.
• Ability to work in a constantly changing and fast paced environment.
• Proactive approach, committed, team-focused work ethic.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
