CohnReznick, one of the nation’s fastest growing public accounting and business advisory services firms, is seeking Disaster Recovery Consultant who would deploy to various locations to assist in performing emergency management and program services of disaster relief grants for its quickly growing Disaster Response and Recovery practice. As a CohnReznick Temporary Consultant, you will be offered the opportunity to work on exciting projects and gain hands on experience working in the field of disaster recovery, compliance, auditing and accounting. Consultants work closely with front-line team members and if successful, may have an opportunity for full time employment. We are considering applicants for both full-time (salaried) and part-time (hourly) roles.
Responsibilities Could Include:
• Working with state and local governmental entities to provide disaster response and recovery services
• Providing guidance and project formulation for FEMA and other federal grant assistance
• Supporting the Finance Section of an Emergency Operation Center (EOC)
• Communicating progress of projects, problems, and resolutions to clients
• Identifying policy or program related compliance issues
• Making recommendations for and coordinating resolutions and improvements
• Attending and/or leading meetings and conferring with officials from FEMA, state and local municipalities
• Communicating and interacting with local officials on a daily basis; communicate issues and status with federal and state partners
• Providing administrative and clerical support of project-related activities
• Reviewing and processing payment requests while ensuring compliance with all applicable Federal and State requirements for Federal Grants
• Perform review, reconciliation and accounting procedures in accordance with firm standards and in an accurate, thorough and timely manner
• Provide administrative and clerical support of project-related activities
Required Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree. Focus in Emergency Management, Accounting, Business, Construction Management or related field is a plus
• 0-2 years working with disaster related grants or related disaster response and recovery activities
• Ability to learn, interpret and apply policy to specific circumstances
• A team player with a positive attitude & strong client focus
• Superior client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationship
• Must be organized and be able to handle multiple tasks
• Must be able to work in a fast paced environment with extended hours
• Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
• Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally
• Strong critical thinking abilities
