About the role
This role is focused on the underwriting and production of a profitable book of business.
• Operate within the defined underwriting guidelines, underwriting authority and pricing model parameters.
• Provide assistance and guidance to other underwriters by sharing expertise on individual risk exposure.
• Provide strong customer relationships for the production of profitable business.
• Participation in local and national industry meetings.
• Conduct presentations to external industry groups and customers.
Authority is granted for decision making within defined underwriting guidelines and defined underwriting authority.
The position will be evaluated based upon premium written, submissions received, number of quotes issued, strength of pricing for accounts written and depth of customer relationships.
About the team
This position resides in E&S Casualty, a unit within the Corporate Solutions North America Division. The E&S unit is in an expansion mode and seeking a professional underwriter to grow our business. The position is responsible for the production and development of a profitable book of E&S business.
About you
• Experience underwriting commercial E&S casualty business, or experience underwriting similar exposures. (The ideal candidate will have 3-10 years' experience to be considered for an Underwriter role and 10+ years' experience to be considered for a Senior Underwriter role.)
• Ability to demonstrate a deep technical knowledge of underwriting exposures for several different classes of business.
• Accomplished knowledge of various premium development methodologies
• Basic knowledge of portfolio management.
• College/University degree, or equivalent experience.
• CPCU designation or other applicable industry course work.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong sales and marketing skills.
• Strong wholesale brokers relationships allowing the creation of business opportunities.
• Good organization and prioritization skills.
• Deep knowledge of coverage form language and intent.
