Description
The MMA Employee Benefits Operations Manager is responsible for much of the daily operations of the employee benefits department. First and foremost, this includes the selection, management, and development of Client Analysts and Coordinators. This role is a key point of contact for department-specific technology and training & education opportunities.
◦ Monitor employee workload and capacity.
◦ Employee recruitment, selection and onboarding.
◦ Training, performance management and employee development. Provide regular feedback to employees.
◦ Ensure compliance with corporate programs and policies, including PTO, attendance, learning org, and travel and expense reimbursement.
◦ Regular communications with employees, including one-on-ones.
◦ Regularly review current products, processes, services and procedures to create an environment emphasizing continual improvement, working closely with Employee Benefits Operations Specialist and Director of Employee Benefits.
◦ Foster knowledge sharing among employees to address issues surrounding workflow, markets, products, legislative issues and best practices.
◦ Stay informed regarding technical knowledge, market trends, company information and other operating techniques and pass along information as necessary.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; working knowledge of employee benefit plans with 5+ years of industry experience and demonstrated relationship management skills. Experience managing, implementing and renewing small and large group health & welfare plans including medical, dental, ancillary, FSA and COBRA plans. Working knowledge of HIPAA, ERISA, COBRA and other state and federal employee benefit regulations. Comprehensive understanding of the key challenges in employee benefit plans and current health care trends. Ability to coordinate multiple projects while ensuring timely and accurate client deliverables, with effective problem solving and resolution skills. Strong organizational, project planning and management, analytical and multi-tasking skills. Ability to communicate with tact and maintain confidentiality. Excellent relationship building and presentation skills. Superior listening, verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required. State Life/Health insurance license required.
