Job Description Summary
Company Overview:
This position will be with AEGON Asset Management, the organization which oversees asset management for many of Transamerica's insurance and operating companies as well as third party clients. The global AEGON Asset Management organization has operations in Europe, the United States and Asia. Primary offices in the United States are located in Cedar Rapids, IA, Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD. AEGON Asset Management and Transamerica are both part of the AEGON NV group of companies. The legal entities that comprise AEGON Asset Management US are AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC and AEGON USA Investment Management, LLC. AEGON USA Realty Advisors, LLC manages commercial real estate, commercial mortgage loans and other real estate related investments. AEGONUSA Investment Management, LLC, is a registered investment adviser that manages fixed income assets, including public bonds, private placements, derivatives and alternative investments.
Responsibilities:
• Originate and facilitate new business opportunities with Low Income Housing Tax Credits developers
• Relationship Management
• Prepare and implement an origination strategy and recommend a marketing strategy to increase Aegon’s presence in the market within assigned territory
• Extensive travel to conduct site visits, attend state housing conferences and QAP meetings, internal meetings, and industry events to execute originations strategy
• Cross-sell other Aegon investments
• Ability to interface with senior management, investment committee, distribution and client management, legal, tax credit asset management, and other lines of business as necessary
• Work with Aegon distribution and client management team to determine the best possible execution for a transaction while meeting developer requirements to successfully win new transactions
• Work with legal throughout the lifecycle of each transaction to successfully construct and negotiate LOIs, term sheets, partnership agreements, and other partnership closing documents as required
• Proficiency in Excel (financial modeling of tax credit transactions) is required in order to perform and/or manage the financial analysis and preliminary underwriting of each transaction
• Extend the platform by opening new markets, leading new initiatives and/or launching new products that will ultimately become a part of Aegon’s standard offerings
Required Qualifications:
• Undergraduate or graduate degree with an emphasis in finance, accounting, mathematics, real estate, business and/or economics
• Ten (10) years of work experience in real estate with a focus on multifamily housing, preferably with a financial institution, private equity firm or a low income housing tax credit syndicator
Preferred Qualifications:
• An existing book of clients and/ or industry recognition to attract new developers to Aegon
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
• The ability to exercise independent judgment working successfully within a team-oriented environment
• Strong investment acumen, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work under minimal supervision in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Job and compensation levels depend upon an applicant’s qualifications including the extent of his/her relevant experience and other job related factors and will be determined by hiring supervisors/managers and HR.
