The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm's books and records, and by contributing to firmwide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley's various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley's various businesses and its senior management team.
The Financial Control Group (FCG) is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial and regulatory reporting for the Firm. FCG prepares external financial reports for public filings and regulators. For internal reporting FCG, along with Financial Planning and Analysis (FPA), summarizes, plans and forecasts the organization's financial position, including income statements, balance sheets, and analyses of future revenues, expenses and earnings. FCG is comprised of Business Unit Controllers, Infrastructure Controllers, Accounting, Regulatory and Reporting groups, and Valuation Review.
The Private Banking Group Finance team supports the entire Private Banking business which includes: High Net Worth Lending, Mortgages and Banking. The Private Banking Executive Director will specifically support the High Net Worth Lending business which includes Tailored Lending. The candidate will be responsible for acting as the CFO of both business units.
Qualifications
Primary Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all aspects of reporting, forecasting and modeling for the High Net Worth Lending and Tailored Lending businesses as well as overall business support to the senior banking and investments leadership team
• Cross-functional role working with business development, accounting policy, legal, operations, business unit risk, business chief administrative office
• This position is responsible for providing financial support, operational support and direction for the High Net Worth Lending & Tailored Lending business units.
• Directs business unit financial analysis to support complex business performance analysis and support management decision-making.
• Works with senior management to provide highly complex financial and technical analysis and recommendations regarding current and/or proposed product lines, pricing models and methodologies, business channels, business opportunities, and/or internal measurements and methodologies.
• Manage financial risks and opportunities, communicating issues in weekly outlooks and identifying opportunities to mitigate them
• Coordinate with legal entity reporting, business unit controllers, and financial data teams to ensure consistency in reporting
• Own all modeling and model documentation as it related to CCAR and DFAST submissions
Skills required:
• Ideal candidate should have 10-15 years functional experience in Finance, preferably from a securities firm or large bank
• Strong modeling and excel skills
• Ability to Multi-task across the firm with multiple business units
• Knowledge of banking financials and accounting
• Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
• Self-motivated with high personal standards for quality of work
• Strong oral and written communication skills
