The Information Research Center (IRC) is looking for a dynamic research professional to join its team
Responsibilities
• Research, analyze and synthesize information from key external sources to provide actionable deliverables that support strategic decision-making at all levels of the organization.
• Perform ongoing rigorous evaluation of market trends and forecasts by identifying, highlighting and updating issues, threats and opportunities while developing actionable insights.
• Identify, monitor, analyze and disseminate information on emerging trends, strategic companies, markets and industries to support business needs.
• Proactively interact with business and functional units to identify and coordinate information needs.
• Utilize research skills and judgment to determine the most useful, efficient, credible and reliable information resources.
• Assist in the development of tools that provides delivery of information more effectively throughout the organization.
• Recommend research strategy and direction in area(s) of expertise.
• Maintain an understanding of current information research business trends and internally promote new ideas to drive continuous improvement.
• Participate in department projects as required.
Qualifications
• BA/BS required. Masters preferred.
• Previous experience in business and finance research, insurance research or competitive intelligence a plus.
• Critical thinking skills and strong business acumen.
• 5-10 years of experience interpreting data and information.
• Ability to apply various analytical frameworks and techniques.
• Must be able to respond effectively to research requests, demonstrating investigative and analytical skills as well as perseverance in locating obscure information.
• Adept at managing multiple projects with conflicting deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact with decision makers at different levels in the organization in a variety of functions.
• Must exhibit a natural curiosity to acquire a firm grasp of the organization and its environment. Must become knowledgeable about the organization’s businesses, its markets and its products to interpret information in context.
• Experience in online research and familiarity with key databases such as LexisNexis, Factiva, Bloomberg, etc. a plus.
• Prior experience developing executive-level deliverables
• Proficient in utilization of technology to deliver information.
• Self-motivated, driven by a quest for continuous improvement.
• Team player, ability to lead and function cooperatively in a team environment is required.
• Detail-oriented and able to balance and prioritize multiple responsibilities at one time.
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
