TheSenior Commercial Business Development Officeris responsible for the direct sales of financial products to businesses (generally $20MM to $1B) and in certain circumstances - individuals. Primary focus is to source new loan, deposit, treasury management and other fee based business. The Senior Commercial Business Development Officer sources new business via disciplined calling efforts on prospects, active networking, consistent review of local news sources, and maintenance of good working relationships with internal and external contacts in their market. Works closely with team members to ensure timely and consistent responses on all identified opportunities. Responsible for generating and maintaining a prospect list that will be actively managed in the bank’s CRM system, and is responsible for keeping track of opportunities sourced as a result of their efforts. Finally, the Commercial Business Development Officer will work with the Commercial Banking Manager(s) and Market Leadership to align Business Development efforts with market goals and initiatives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Scheduling & attending business development calls. The majority of the Senior Commercial Business Development Officer’s time is dedicated to setting and attending appointments with prospects and referral sources. Identifies leads and prospects through various means to include active networking with business points of influence (accountants, attorneys, insurance brokers, etc.), review of the CRM database, web research, and productive working relationships with the Commercial Bankers and product partners (i.e. Treasury Services, Institutional Wealth Management, International Services etc.).
2. Develop an aggressive marketing plan for prospects. The primary use of the Commercial Business Development Officer’s time is calling on prospects in order to identify needs and solutions. Generates and maintains a list of qualified prospect accounts and associated contacts, and is responsible for creating strategies to regularly communicate with identified prospects through the use of various tactics (i.e. email, phone, mail, LinkedIn etc.)
3. Maintain the data integrity of prospect list(s) in the CRM database. This includes the completion of required data fields within account and contact records, the identification and merging of duplicates records, and the updating of completed tasks/events with appropriate notes.
4. Represent the Bank at community and networking events that are relevant. In addition to attending external networking events, the incumbent will also play a key role in driving prospect attendance at bank events.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
• Advanced knowledge of business development/sales practices which results in the ability to move prospects to BOKF, increase market share through excellent prospecting and partnering skills, and meet aggressive call goals
• Thorough knowledge of loan and deposit for Treasury Management, International Banking, FX, Private Bank, and IWM
• Ability to research, recognize and problem solve; strong attention to detail
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written
• Good computer skills including internet research, word processing and spreadsheet applications
This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in business and 10+ successful years in business development or at least 16+ years experience in a related field.
