Organizational Summary
Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (WM) provides a range of wealth management products and services for individuals, businesses and institutions. These services include brokerage and investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, cash management, annuities and insurance, retirement, trust and estate planning, stock plan administration and institutional consulting.
Graystone Consulting, a business of Morgan Stanley within the Wealth Management division, is a global leader in the institutional advisory business, serving a wide variety of institutional clients including: foundations & endowments, corporate pension plans, 401K plans, Taft-Hartley funds, healthcare funds and public pension plans. Each of our 57 teams across the country is led by an Institutional Consulting director, who brings more than an average of 20 years industry experience.
Position Summary:
The Institutional Advisory Billing Project / Program Manager will help develop strategy and change management planning to successfully design and deliver initiatives related to the Institutional Advisory Billing platform for custody and non-custody advisory assets. The individual will be responsible for the successful automation of the Institutional Advisory Billing initiative as well as ongoing support of the program. This role will have extensive engagement with multiple stakeholders and senior management across Graystone Consulting, Consulting Group and the broader Wealth Management organization.
The individual will work closely with advisory operations, business partners and the field to lead business analysis, develop process design, manage requirements sessions, and communications strategies to deliver an efficient and scalable solution for Institutional Advisory Billing.
• Lead initiatives to assess and improve systems, operating models, and policies across the Institutional Advisory Billing program to implement automation, consistency and strong business & risk oversight and control for both custody and non-custody assets
• Manage large scale program with multiple workstreams, business partners and stakeholders, vendor interaction
• Identify and track key opportunities to improve business processes for Graystone Consulting
• Coordinate analysis to develop tactical and strategic solutions
• Ongoing support of Institutional Advisory Billing program post production
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop and maintain complex project and program plans based on business and client requirements, ensuring projects are completed in accordance with all Risk, Business & Tech Architecture and other relevant firm wide guidelines
• Lead activities, monitor details, provide comprehensive schedules, including cross-dependency milestones, risk/issues reporting and status reporting
• Escalate project and program issues and risks appropriately, and drive them to resolution
• Regularly create and update polished executive level reports and presentations for complex projects with limited supervision
• Work with operations and technology teams to ensure thorough testing of modules/applications/interfaces
Qualifications
• Eight years of financial services industry work experience, with strong knowledge of wealth management advisory business and exposure to the assets held away business model
• Relationship management skills and the ability to develop strong partnerships across the organization including Operations, Technology, the Field and outside vendors
• Proven project management background with an understanding of technologies and how they are used in a large global corporation
• Experience in business strategy, management consulting, or career where a similar skill set is developed and demonstrated
• Excellent listening, situation analysis, problem solving, negotiation, facilitation and relationship building skills
• Ability and confidence to communicate with senior management, and present business case
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with business partners and senior management
• Strong detail-oriented and organizational skills, with the ability to leverage available resources to work efficiently
• Must be a self-starter and a quick learner, able to prioritize and work under pressure and manage to tight deadlines or unexpected changes
• Expert knowledge of project management techniques, standard office software (MS Office, Visio, Project)
• Ability to work in a team environment and partner with multiple individuals across various groups
• Must be highly motivated with a strong work ethic and a desire to succeed
