This role will report to the Global Head of IT Sourcing, Managing Director and be co-managed by the Head of Software Asset Management, Executive Director.
Reengineering & Expense Management Department (REM)
REM works in close partnership with the businesses within Morgan Stanley and supports functions to identify and execute opportunities to manage expenses through strategic sourcing, demand management, process reengineering, procurement management and sales and use tax optimization.
Responsibilities
The candidate will take a leadership role in managing all operational aspects of the team's data strategy and reporting related to IT Sourcing and Software Asset Management, reporting to the Global Head of IT Sourcing. This role involves managing large amounts of data and integrating people, processes and technology.
This role is dynamic and requires close coordination with all members of the IT Sourcing team and numerous Morgan Stanley managers globally with a goal to reduce costs and minimize the inherent risks in owning and managing software assets. The position is critical to productivity, software license compliance and delivering on corporate-wide identified savings targets by working daily with internal and external stakeholders.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Lead the team’s data strategy efforts across both SAM and Sourcing systems, driving associated change management activities:
• Focus on data integrity, predictive analysis and report design / implementation in order to conduct compliance analyses, demand management reporting and assist sourcing managers with identifying negotiation strategies
• Ownership for the financial analytics, data collection and reporting associated with identifying new savings opportunities related to the SAM Software Self-Certification program
• Periodic review of technology infrastructure to make recommendations and a roadmap for improvement that will gain efficiencies and improve reporting to support a best in class operation
• Apply a structured approach and methodology for all required change efforts, including project plans, communication plans, and training plans
• Assist management in the execution of strategic initiatives that will achieve a target end-state as follows:
• A talented team with optimal organizational structure that works seamlessly and effectively with numerous business partners across Morgan Stanley and vendors on matters related to the Data Strategy related to Sourcing and Software Asset Management
• An outcome based organization, driven by processes, technology tools, actionable reports and KPIs
• Optimized total cost of ownership for the Firm’s Software and broader IT Sourcing Portfolio
• Limited and mitigated compliance and security risks associated with the Firm’s software licensing life-cycle
• Oversee productivity and efficiency of our SAM offshore team:
• Provide offshore staff with a strong day-to-day leadership presence in establishing, prioritizing and coordinating operational projects, considering resources needs, timelines, improvements to the controls and efficiency of processes, and impact on savings to the Firm’s bottom line
• Create a framework for managing and measuring performance of our offshore team to optimize cycles, increase capacity and maintain the highest level of throughput
• Develop, maintain and grow strategic, senior relationships with Managing and Executive Directors, and other key stakeholders in order to successfully execute strategic initiatives
• Contribute to the collegial culture of the Firm, adding to the open, communicative team environment
