Position summary:
Our Human Resources department is seeking a Director, Talent, Learning & Development to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA office.
The Hanover Insurance executive leadership team is committed to investing in the development of our employees. Our talent management processes address both the short and long term priorities of our growing organization. Talent Management at The Hanover serves the business by driving strategy, identifying and managing talent risks, and creating long term value. Our talent processes include assimilation, performance management, talent review/succession planning and management, strategic workforce planning, Early-in-Career development, and mobility and career development. Our Talent Leaders partner closely with the HR Business Partner Community to create value for the business, and also work closely with leaders across the enterprise.
Currently, we are looking to identify a highly accomplished Talent Management leader to assist in leading and executing our talent management and development strategy.
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Talent Management:
• Diagnose the Talent Management needs of the business, develop solutions, and lead their execution through direct implementation or in collaboration with the HR Business Partner Community
• Leads in the design, development and implementation of broad company-wide initiatives associated with succession planning, leadership capabilities and development programs, performance standards, performance management and plays an integral role in the support of systems and tools to support these initiatives.
• Assists senior management in the development of solutions through Talent Management, cultural and process-oriented perspectives.
• Designs and delivers effective performance management tools and processes that support a culture of on-going, candid, two-way communication and feedback, aligns individual goals with organizational goals and ultimately drives a high-performance culture.
Learning & Development:
• Collaborates with internal teams and business partners to devise Learning and Development strategies that will meet the Company’s strategic and operational business goals.
• Stays current on talent management and learning and development best practices through both internal and external networks.
• Drives marketing and communication of Enterprise Learning programs.
• Facilitates and delivers senior level learning activities.
• Conducts research into the latest methods and measurements for organizational development and incorporates best practices into existing and new practices, processes and tools.
• Develops metrics to assess the effectiveness of learning and development activities.
• Drives the design, development, selection and revision of Learning and Development programs in response to business needs and objectives.
Position Requirements:
• A minimum of 10 years of experience developing and implementing Talent Management and Learning initiatives at a mid to large size complex organization with multiple business units.
• Significant depth in multiple domains within Talent Management function (change management, performance management, talent review/succession planning, career development, mobility, “HIPO” assessment development, strategic talent planning, team building, change management, organization development and design, strategic workforce planning, and leadership assessment).
• Demonstrated ability to successfully design and develop learning solutions.
• Experience with a variety of learning techniques and delivery approaches.
• Must have the ability to influence without authority and build strong relationships with business leaders to help achieve their talent retention and development goals.
• Experience in aligning Learning strategies to business strategies.
• Superior commitment to and demonstrated expertise in collaboration in a dynamic, high demand environment.
• Superior facilitation and consulting skills; must be able to diagnose, consult, design solutions and partner to deliver them with a high level of capability and autonomy. Demonstrated ability to successful design and develop learning solutions.
• Demonstrated drive for results and exceptional level of personal leadership and accountability.
• Demonstrate a strong external connection to best practices in all areas of Talent Management.
Physical demands & work environment:
• Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment
• Ability to travel as necessary
• Ability to work extended hours during peak work periods, in a fast pace environment and under the pressure of stress to deliver
