Description
The Benefits Consultant will develop and implement an individual sales plan for employee benefits insurance products and coordinate service of assigned accounts, deliver renewals on a timely basis and secure quotes when necessary.
The Essential Functions of this position are as follows:
• Maintain professional ethics according to insurance industry standards, J.W. Terrill Benefits Services, Inc. standards and licensing laws in the state of Missouri.
Sales
• Establish network of referrals and sales leads, using an organized prospecting system
• Generate leads by cold calling and following up with correspondence.
• Monitor suspense for follow up.
• Participate in community/professional organizations, civic activities or other less structured social activities to generate sales leads.
• Meet with potential customers and coordinate the gathering of information for new business/renewals.
• Ensure formal proposals are prepared and oral presentation is made to customer.
• Ensure that signed contracts, including proposal and specifications are complete for fee-for-service business.
• Regularly monitor current business and potential leads for opportunities for total account selling, distributing leads to other departments, and/or assisting in the sale of property and casualty, personal and surety business
Retention/Renewals
Work within team framework, utilizing Administrative Marketing Assistant and Administrative Benefits Assistant accordingly.
Coordinate regular and frequent customer contact and maintain good customer relations.
Discuss other opportunities for new business with current customers.
Assist insurance companies in dealing with the customer regarding claims.
Marginal Functions are as follows:
• Assist management in annual sales planning and sales objectives.
• Attend Benefits division meetings as scheduled.
• Attend weekly work unit meetings.
• Maintain monthly sales activity reports.
• Design annual sales plan.
• Assist in monitoring and resolving claims problems on customer accounts.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Training:
• High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree preferred. Industry related training and sales training preferred.
• Experience:
3-5 years related experience in employee group benefits at an agency or company.
