Description
The Accountant III provides timely and thorough analysis and review of regular and special projects, as assigned. An Accountant III is an individual performer who may review and direct the work of other team members. Prepares, analyzes, and reviews general ledger accounts. Complete related activities for the production of various reports and financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Major areas of responsibility may include but are not limited to:
1. Prepare journal entries, reconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end/year end close, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
2. Ensure month end/quarter end reporting requirements are met, both external reporting and regulatory reporting requirements.
3. Prepare documentation in support of internal and external audit requirements.
4. Assist in evaluating, recommending, maintaining and monitoring appropriate internal controls.
5. Identify accounting issues, research solutions, form conclusions and present to management. Ability to solicit support for ideas and provide sound rationale for recommendations.
6. Completes individual analytical and ad hoc projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines. Performs work in a self-directed manner and works with less structures, more complex issues while also serving as a resource to others.
7. Lead business process enhancements and provide back-up coverage for critical accounting activities.
8. Works with management to identify and develop enhanced reporting. Develops reporting routines to respond to the requests of management. Incorporates enhanced reporting techniques into existing processes and identifies alternative for improvement.
Qualified candidates for this role will possess:
• BA/BS degree, preferably in Accounting
• 4-6 years of general accounting experience, strong understanding of GAAP accounting, or 3 years of experience with an advanced degree or professional certification
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong team player that possess high learning agility
• Ability to prioritize, make decisions quickly and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
• Drive, self-motivated, responsible and flexible
Preferred experience:
• Public accounting experience
• Financial services/Financial Institutions experience
• Professional certification (CFM, CMA, or CPA) or advanced degree
• Experience with Hyperion Essbase skills.
