Job Description Summary
Transamerica Asset Liability Management is hiring “Director of Data and Reporting” to report to the Senior Director of Risk Management - Asset Liability Management (ALM) & Hedging. The director will lead the data and reporting analytics group at Enterprise Risk Systems, a business side quant analytics and software development group. In this role the director is responsible for designing and implementing data models, tools, processes, governance for all analytic systems used at ALM. The role requires close coordination with external organizations such as Transamerica Technology Data & Analytics and Data Governance. The director plays a key role in ensuring that controls and data integrity match the highest regulatory and internal control expectations while at the same time fostering innovation with new technologies, enabling data science and contributing into turning Transamerica into data driven organization.
Responsibilities
• Lead CFO / ALM / Enterprise Risk Systems / Data and Reporting Analytics team.
• Conceptualize, design and assist in the implementation of new and existing systems
• Master data management, metadata, data quality, data governance and data architecture.
• Continually increase business acumen and awareness of technology best practices to help the team deliver business solutions.
• Supports process framework, governance standards, audit controls, architecture and financial management.
• Coordinates vendor engagement and internal IT engagement.
• Communicates effectively with project sponsors and stakeholders of project status, progress, risks, issues and expected outcomes.
• Continually work towards establishing a single reporting repository to reduce data duplication and quality issues.
• Establish self-service analytic capabilities for business functions.
• Devise, document and implement conceptual and quantitative models to solve business problems.
• Gather pertinent information and data sources across disciplines to formulate solutions.
• Architect, design and Implement software using an agile approach.
• Coordinate with the IT team the adoption of systems in the production environment under SDLC guidelines.
• Is responsible for producing and presenting departmental level analysis to mid-level management.
• Develop and maintain subject matter expertise required to advise businesses management.
• This role may include work in ALM, modeling, research, trading/hedging strategies.
• The role requires design and implementation of software.
Required Qualifications
• BA/BS in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business or related field with 10 years of relevant work experience.
• OR Master’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, or related field and at least 8 years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• Communication skills to convey complex information to business both verbally and in writing at an appropriate level of detail for each audience.
• Previous experience managing enterprise-level projects.
• Developed and delivered data-driven solutions to support business needs and analytics. Provided recommendations and solutions for improving data accessibility as driven by the business need for knowledge and decision.
• Deep expertise in relational data base and SQL
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, analytics, reporting and best practices.
• Assisted a team in the ongoing creation and maintenance of documentation related to data processes and business rules. Used a variety of data visualization/presentation tools to support self-service analytics or to aggregate data for management presentations.
• Make tactical, data driven decisions leveraging experience and with consideration to competing priorities. Consult with end-users and respond with solutions.
• Able to work within a fast-paced environment with quickly changing priorities.
• Able to exercise judgment as it relates to business decisions and their effects on stakeholders.
• Strong time management skills to manage multiple priorities under time constraints.
• Highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong experience in leading teams responsible for data management and/or resolving data issues.
• Demonstrated business acumen and the ability to apply technology solutions to solve business problems.
• Experience in financial services industry.
• Knowledge of equity, fixed income, credit, and derivative instruments.
• Experience with cloud, and big data technologies.
• Experience on developing on Linux and scripting languages.
• Experience with trading systems.
• Experience with security master, timeseries, EOD marks data models.
Behavioral & Leadership Competencies
• Significant experience and a demonstrated track record with sophisticated companies. This role is a management level position.
