Job Description
The Senior Human Resources Generalist role is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of HR solutions aligned to the business and HR strategy. Working directly with designated business units, the Sr. HR Generalist provides HR support, process knowledge advice and consultation. Working collaboratively with the Operations groups and HRBPs, the Sr. HR Generalist will influence and execute HR processes and initiatives. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas, including, but not limited to: recruitment, employee relations, performance management, new hire onboarding, off-boarding, policy implementation, organizational change and employment law compliance. As a member of the HR Field Team, this role serves on the HR front lines in support of the business.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as effective business partner and field operational leadership, fostering a positive working relationship between the Human Resources function and operations. This is driven through the management and involvement in:
Recruitment
◦ Partners with field leaders and corporate recruiter (when appropriate) to execute staffing plans.
◦ Aligns with Operations leadership and strategically develops recruitment plans
◦ Involvement in administration of relocation program
◦ Involvement in and management of immigration matters
Employee Relations
◦ Partners with client groups to develop and nurture a healthy team culture, consistent with company values.
◦ Develops and maintains an in depth understanding of both legislated and corporate human resources policies, procedures and practices and their impact on operations.
◦ Ensures compliance with all legal requirements and company HR policies and procedures.
◦ Responds to employee hotline calls, per program guidelines.
Onboarding and orientation
◦ Ownership for onboarding and orientation execution and improvements for respective client groups. Partners with field leaders to drive consistency in approach.
Performance and Talent Management
◦ Advises managers and functional team leaders of ‘need-for-action’ lead indicators, so that the organization can address human capital issues proactively.
◦ Partners with the Total Rewards team to execute the Talent Management and Performance cycles.
◦ Patterns with the compensation team to address matters including but not limited to internal promotions/adjustments, offer recommendations and functional benchmarking as needed.
Organizational Effectiveness
◦ Monitors and acts on key HR success metrics (e.g. turnover; recruiting effectiveness; training through-put; headcount; etc.) to nimbly respond to changing business conditions.
◦ Works with management on succession planning, ensuring appropriate resources are available as needed to support the growth/changes of the organization.
◦ Assesses business operations from both a strategic and tactical perspective and recommends appropriate courses of action for improvement.
Communications/Employee Engagement
◦ Support internal communication strategies around change/transformation initiative for the company
◦ Develop, implement, and oversee engagement initiatives, including employee surveys and focus groups to measure employee satisfaction and engagement
◦ Track and analyze communications effectiveness and recommend enhancements or changes to increase employee engagement
Team
◦ Partners with other members of the HR leadership team to evaluate the effectiveness of the HR strategy. Make suggestions for improvement as needed.
◦ Leads business unit HR work stream projects as assigned by HR leadership to drive consistency in process across corporate and North American HR functions.
◦ Nurture personal and professional growth and development by attending appropriate conferences, establishing professional affiliations and monitoring the latest industry trends relevant to DFC Global.
◦ Act as the ambassador for HR and across the business
◦ Lead the annual performance appraisal process
◦ Other related duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, HR or related field study preferred. PHR/SPHR designation and/or advanced degree a plus.
EXPERIENCE
◦ 5-7 years of professional Human Resource Generalist experience required.
◦ Retail or financial services experience a plus.
◦ Experience in applying HR principles and practices, employment law and regulations.
◦ Experience in influencing decision making to drive results for the overall business.
◦ Experience in making tough decisions and delivering difficult messages with professionalism and poise.
◦ Experience in communicating using both verbal and written formats in a clear, concise manner that is targeted to the audience.
◦ Experience in business partnering with operational departments.
