Job Summary: Performs duties related to the processing of applications for individual life insurance policies. Provides customer services to sales agents, producers, and underwriters. Reviews and processes applications; prepares files for review by underwriters; uploads and updates data; provides general clerical and administrative support.
Functional Responsibilities:
• Reviews all new life insurance applications for accuracy and completeness.
• Ensures that all supporting forms and underwriting requirements are complete with proper signatures. Orders and traces missing underwriting requirements including attending physician statements, medical test results, customer reports, etc.
• Orders and reviews sales illustrations from sales representatives and resolves discrepancies. Updates underwriting systems against paper applications and resolves application data errors. Investigates and resolves inquiries from sales offices and other offices relating to case-specific issues.
• May process specialized types of new business processing such as purchase options, pension options, worksite options, survivorship options, etc.
• Issues policies once an underwriting decision is made.
• Types amendments and letters as needed. Reissues cases. Performs quality checks on policies and verifies delivery requirements.
Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills:
Required:
• High school diploma
• 2-4 yrs. related business experience
Preferred:
• Working knowledge of application forms, procedures, and workflow governing the processing of new business.
