Willis Towers Watson Middle Market Plan Management (MPMM) & Brokerage Services is committed to helping mid-sized clients improve the performance of their benefit programs and business. We offer the expertise, tools, resources and leveraged purchasing power of a large consulting company in a model that offers the flexibility to meet specific mid-market client needs.
The Role
As a Middle Market Client Manager, you will contribute to a wide variety of projects targeted primarily at the middle market client segment. You will provide services that encompass the full spectrum of health and welfare consulting and brokerage, tailored to meet the specific needs and challenges that face mid-market employers. You will apply best practice procurement and plan design, interface with vendors and key clients (both internally and externally), create client deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.
Performance Objectives:
Excellence
• Assess plan designs, costs, and contributions and design sustainable solutions that deliver high-performance results
• Analyze and compare vendor products, services and contracts
• Design, distribute and evaluate responses to surveys and RFPs
• Communicate and liaise effectively with colleagues and clients regarding data collection and project execution
• Communicate with client participants and provide a high level of customer service on regulatory issues, plan options, annual enrollment, and ongoing plan eligibility and design questions
• Assist project team with client assignments to deliver timely, within-budget and high quality work
• Work with clients on strategic benefit management decisions including vendor selection, cost reduction, and participant wellness
People
• Build strong relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
• Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
• Serve as an continuous advocate for client and participant information, clarification, and guidance on benefit-related issues
• Field inquiries from participants in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality and providing the highest level of customer service
Clients
• Deliver on projects to meet or exceed client expectations
• Increase efficiency within client teams by identifying ways to improve processes
• Begin to serve as the project manager and main liaison to the consultant which includes
• Creating project plans
• Monitoring progress to deadlines and budget
• Actively participates in weekly/bi-weekly status meeting calls
• Ensuring appropriate and effective communication among team members and the client
• Managing implementation process as liaison between client and carrier to ensure seamless transition of benefits and administration
• Maintain and update materials related to client enrollment
• Conduct Request for Proposal processes related to group benefit program
Financial
• Contribute to sales and marketing efforts by drafting proposals, responding to RFPs and preparing superior marketing analysis for client evaluation and decision making
The Requirements
• 3+ years experience as an account manager, coordinator or equivalent in a benefits consulting/brokerage firm, insurance company, or similar environment
• Some experience dealing with the financials of group health plans; additional experience with life/disability plans designs
• Well organized and detail oriented
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Demonstrates initiative to learn more and take on more challenges
• Ability to respond to all communications effectively and in a timely manner
• Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues; strong client first orientation
• Demonstrated leadership qualities
• Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment
• Ability to develop lasting relationships with clients
• Self starter; interest in continually challenging oneself and willingness to step outside of one’s comfort zone
• Adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously and adhering to strict project deadlines
• Experience with HRIS systems a plus
• Demonstrate benefits industry knowledge and apply experience.
• Strong analytical and integrative skills including ability to draw conclusions and identify trends from data in a logical, systematic way
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel
• Bachelors degree required ; CEBS designation, group health actuarial or underwriting training desired
