About the role
In support of the North American Excess and Surplus Casualty Groups, deliver timely and accurate business-processing, administrative, technical and marketing support to the underwriting process for Insurance & Specialty Underwriters and Client Managers. Duties and responsibilities directly impact productivity, process efficiency, timeliness, profitability, and accuracy of the underwriting process and may require occasional travel.
About the team
• Primary responsibility for communication between Underwriters and the Policy Management Team.
• High interaction and coordination with underwriting, near-shore/off-shore, other functional areas including, but not limited to Products, Finance, Claims, Compliance and Policy Processing.
• Conduct preliminary deal analysis; prepare applicable account data for review by underwriter or client manager.
• Communicate well with others to answer questions, reviewing files, records, and other documentation as needed; disseminate or explain information, take direction, and address complaints.
• Read, organize and work with detailed source documents from external customer information, determine appropriate next steps.
• High interaction via telephone, e-mail, or in person with external customers delivering superior customer service, and obtaining/providing information as needed.
• Support underwriting teams in organizing and preparing data for client/broker meetings.
• Compose business correspondence, as needed, with input from underwriters (if needed).
• Attend meetings, seminars, and programs to learn about new processes and guidelines, learn new skills, and stay updated with the underwriting team supported. (some travel involved)
• Participate on special projects, as assigned.
About You
• Associates Degree or equivalent; 4-year degree a plus
• Insurance Institute of America (IIA) or equivalent certifications desirable.
• Minimum 1-2 years relevant experience.
• Also, knowledge and understanding of commercial (property / casualty) insurance principles and practices.
• Excellent computer skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word,
Excel, etc.), and/or other applications; Quick learner.
• Demonstrated knowledge of arithmetic and algebra, administrative procedures including managing files and records, general economic and accounting principles.
• Takes initiative and driven to achieve operational excellence; self-motivated with desire to deliver results for the team/group.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision; but also works well in conjunction with others.
• Capable of recognizing when to involve management where needed in daily operations to solve any operational issues.
• Strongly detailed-oriented with proven analytical skills including the ability to identify and report problems or errors while working with significant amounts of detailed information.
• Superior ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate, and monitor personal/team work plans, maintaining status and oversight of multiple submissions.
• Effective team player with a positive outlook and proven ability to work in globally located team situations, understanding and demonstrating sensitivity toward cultural differences.
• Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a matrix environment.
