Job Description Summary
Reporting to our Chief Human Resource Officer, this key role will be a leader who is passionate about creating a continuous learning culture and who can drive the vision, strategy, and execution of a Learning and Development platform that will inspire team members to achieve their highest goals. This role is critical in driving the business strategy by developing the bench strength of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
• Continuously raise the bar on Learning and Development within the Bank, with the goal of having the Bank recognized as a true Learning organization with available on-demand training.
• Responsible for developing, articulating and driving the learning and organizational development strategy.
• Develop strong partnerships with the Business and Functional Leaders, the HR Business Partners and the Talent Management Team, to ensure the development and delivery of relevant and effective training throughout the organization.
• Serve as, and develop a strong team to play a consultative role within HR and the Business to assist in diagnosing needs and providing effective solutions to address those needs.
• Partner with Bank leaders to support the programs and processes, which will directly impact the business unit specific organizational development initiatives that align with business goals.
• Review and refine our core, leadership and functional competencies with learning tools that drive continuous learning and integration of these competencies.
• Develop strong partnerships with the Learning & Development teams within BNP Paribas, our parent company, to share and leverage Best Practices within the Group.
• Bring the latest learning technologies and programs to create a Best in Class L&D organization that has true impact on employee development.
Qualifications
Required Experience
• Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead project teams multiple job areas.
• Typically has mastery level knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with broad understanding of other areas within the job function.
• Requires 15 years minimum prior relevant experience in Learning & Development and experience managing teams working in a fast-paced, complex and matrixed organization.
Education
• Bachelor's Degree Related field.
Candidate Profile
• The ideal candidate must be passionate about culture transformation and leading change in a fast paced, complex organization.
• A transformation leader with experience establishing a new culture, inspiring change and leading high performance organizations. S/he will have a record of accomplishment of building relationship with business leaders, HR colleagues and vendors and will be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Manages a LMS and has in-depth knowledge of the latest learning theories, technology solutions, virtual learning, and practice in design, development, delivery, and evaluation for online, live sessions, and blended learning solutions.
• Experience overseeing a corporate learning and development function, including soft skills, leadership, sales training and job skills training.
• Master’s/Advanced Degree in Learning and Development, Education, Organization Development or a closely related field preferred.
• Superior executive presence with both the ability and credibility to present ideas and recommendations at all levels within the organization and to the Management Committee.
• Grasps complexities and connections among problems or issue, able to prioritize elements that will most drive Bank of the West success.
• Uses best-in-class benchmarks and own direct experience as catalyst for driving change.
• Uses innovative approaches and systems thinking to learning.
• Drive proactive initiatives to support a large, complex and growing enterprise over the next several years. Assure that people and processes can scale.
• Will lead with a clear, compelling vision of where s/he wants to take the Learning and Organizational Development group.
• Great communicator, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven experience in developing and successfully implementing vision and strategies around learning.
• Strong strategic and critical thinking skills; ability to see the “big picture” while also diving into details as necessary.
• Continuously looking at how to improve processes, training offerings and delivery and their own effectiveness.
• Able to inspire their team and those around them to superior delivery.
• Engages in the teams through his/her enthusiasm and excitement about the business.
