International Banking Product Specialist / Portfolio Manager provides analytical, portfolio management, underwriting (credit & country) and compliance management support to the International Banking & the Global Trade Division.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
• Underwrite and present credit limits to approval authorities for financial institutions (foreign banks and insurance companies) for use by the International Banking and Global Trade Division. Complete country risk analysis for assigned geographies, develop limit recommendations and present to approval authorities for use by all areas of bank.
• Work collaboratively across units of the bank in the deployment of and conformance to CPSC 1100-22 Country Risk. Many of these tasks will be to assist the bank in managing to the expectations of its regulators.
• Maintains frequent contact with Trade Operations, AML/BSA, Counterparty Credit and other key partners to stay current on internal requirements and trends.
• Actively provide advisory support from a commercial lending perspective across all units of Commercial as it relates to transactions that involve the acceptance of country risk. The expectation is that the candidate will build productive relationships with the business units with the aim of responsibly supporting the attraction of new primary bank relationships.
• Participate in the underwriting and compliance management support for all product lines within the International Banking and Global Trade division. A key product line the candidate will assist with will relate to the U.S. ExIm Bank.
• Actively monitors market conditions in assigned geographies and provides updates when appropriate to Division Management and approval/oversight authorities as requested.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a country risk newsletter that includes key global developments for both internal and external distribution.
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in underwriting financial institutions, foreign countries or Commercial Lending credits.
• Bachelor Degree (Finance or Economics majors prefreered)
Preferred qualifications:
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in underwriting financial institutions, foreign countries and Commercial credits, particularly in Asset-Based Lending.
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
• Experience working with ExIm Bank
• Fluency in a widely spoken foreign language (i.e. Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese or French).
