As one of the key areas representing the “client voice” for the Firm, the Integrated Marketing group is seeking to further engage sophisticated investor audiences directly to better understand their needs and desires in order to offer our clients original insights and content and to develop new products and services.
In 2017, a Client Research department was formed. It is currently being led by the Client Research Director, who plays a central role in helping to tap the voice of a range of client types by conceptualizing, designing, and conducting proprietary quantitative and qualitative research. The purpose of this research is to further the success of the business through the cultivation of original insights and content that can inform and support the firm’s go-to-market strategies.
The AVP, Client Research will play an integral role in shaping and supporting the firm’s proprietary research initiatives. This role will have a high level of interaction with Brand and Advertising, Marketing, Distribution and senior management throughout the firm.
Principal Responsibilities
• Assist Client Research Director in managing a portfolio of original research studies
• Serve as lead researcher on 1-2 thought leadership studies annually (with support from Director)
• Lead all Marketing and Distribution product research, including periodic brand tracking study
• Engage with stakeholders and translate conceptual business needs into specific research design
• Manage research projects through all phases: project proposal, questionnaire design, sample design, data collection, data analysis, reporting, presentation and external activation
• As needed, oversee vendor relations to manage project deliverables and realize research goals
• Develop survey instruments in partnership with select third party vendors while incorporating the input and objectives of key internal stakeholders (i.e. Distribution, Marketing, etc).
• Conduct ad hoc analyses subsequent to primary vendor analysis to continue to yield new insights to maximize the value and durability of each research project
• Create visually appealing reports that transform survey data into actionable narratives / stories
Qualifications
• 8-10 years of primary research experience (within a research agency and/or corporate setting)
• Experience managing thought leadership research studies end-to-end is required
• Experience developing original research for financial services firms a plus
• Experience conducting quantitative (primarily) and qualitative research studies
• Structured thinker with strong project management skills
• Strong questionnaire design skills – ability to gather business requirements and develop survey questions from scratch
• Strong analytical writing and critical thinking skills: demonstrated ability to interpret and draw conclusions from raw data and present findings with thoughtful insights and recommendations
• Visual storytelling skills – ability to tell a story with survey data in a visually impactful way
• Practical experience transforming research data into insights and stories
• Polished personal presentation with effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Collaborative approach; able to work with diverse areas across the organization
• Intellectually curious – a desire to keep asking “why” and digging into the data to find answers
• A sense of humor!
