Description
This diverse role is responsible for managing an individual portfolio of key Trade Finance franchise relationships and developing new Trade Finance relationships in BMO Harris Bank N.A. and BMO Capital Markets.
The mandate is to develop new and grow existing profitable Trade Finance relationships and business opportunities, gain market share in the United States and deliver high quality products and services to clients addressing their specific needs.
The position involves frequent interaction and extensive teamwork with BMO colleagues from various market segments and lines of business around the world including sales and product management, relationship management, compliance/risk management, credit and trade finance operations (GTO).
Customer profile is mainly large corporations and mid-market companies actively involved internationally through import or export of products and services
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Business Development & Client Management:
• Contribute to the team sales results primarily by winning new clients and secondarily by managing own client portfolio Formal presentations of the product offering to key stakeholders within the international field such as internal bank partners, external clients/prospect and trade associations.
• Assist clients and BMO relationship managers with structuring the financing and risk mitigation related to international trade transactions.
• Apply innovative ways of using and selling trade finance solutions in the procurement and supply chain finance spectrum such as accounts receivable and payable financing.
• Leverage firm’s resources by cross-selling other products and services to clients and prospects.
Strategy and Planning:
• Development of annual individual business strategy and sales goals and objectives in conjunction with the regional plan and execution of same
• Ensuring active involvement in and integration of TF client relationship planning within the context of overall client relationship coverage plan developed by commercial or corporate banking Relationship Managers.
Financials:
• Measure individual profitability and productivity.
• Provide support and collaborate with colleagues ensuring group objectives are materialized
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge:
• Expertise of the global business environment
• International financial transactions such as Import-Export Letters of Credit and Collections, Standby Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Supply Chain Finance and other trade products, services and practices
• Understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment relating to international trade
• Understanding of credit analysis and financial statements would be an asset

• Confident, self-motivated individual that thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Team player able to constructively interact with many elements of client and BMO organization.
• Strong sales, negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of bank and TF related business systems and general technology such as PowerPoint, Siebel, Livelink, etc.
• Skilled in adapting the role and approach as the requirements of the situation change, and adept at seeking new and better ways of attaining goals.
• Regular travel to visit clients and prospects will be required.
Education/Experience:
• Undergraduate degree with a focus on Business, Economics, Finance/Accounting, International Relations or equiv. MBA is an asset.
• 4+ years of relevant banking experience and/or Trade Finance experience in the corporate sphere with specific focus on Trade Finance Sales/Operations/Product Development, and/or Global Treasury Management, and/or Commercial or Corporate Banking Relationship Management.
• Experience in the areas of development of sales strategy and business plans, as well as financial modeling and client profitability measurement.
