Position Overview
Manages the research, review and analysis of investment data/reports to ensure financial results and analytics are accurate. Manages the reporting functions of investments, which include analysis of investment data and preparation of investment surveys, internal management reporting and investment footnotes. Works on special projects as needed.
Responsibilities
• Performs detailed review of analysis of investment data/reports; provides solutions to resolve issues. Navigates through substantial quantities of data/reports and/or statements to detect errors and gather financial information for reporting and/or makes recommendations. Gathers information to accurately understand and summarize issues, evaluates risk and challenges, works collaboratively to propose recommendations and works to implement approved changes.
• Performs supervisory duties, including, but not limited to training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work environment. Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
• Provides support to Director and Executive Director, including special projects and supervision of Investment Accounting Analysts. Works with Director of Investment Accounting and others within department to develop areas of focus for accounting, process, or reporting improvements, including data related projects.
• Coordinates and summarizes investment information for internal and external examiners.
• Works with other functional areas to achieve efficient and effective investment reporting practices and procedures and responds to requests from other functional areas on various inquiries.
• Performs accounting functions and maintains and prepares month-end, quarter-end and annual reports for assigned asset and investment accounting areas. Ensures compliance with GAAP guidelines. Prepares and/or reviews GAAP reporting disclosures.
• Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent related work experience
• 8+ years accounting or finance experience
• 2-5 years supervisory experience
Preferred:
• Master’s Degree or CPA
• Progress towards FLMI or CFA
• Public accounting experience
• Advanced experience with GAAP accounting
• Insurance/Reinsurance financial reporting experience

• Basic Word and advanced Excel skills

Advanced ability to set goals and handle multiple tasks, clients, and projects simultaneously; Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
• Advanced level of investigative, analytical and problem solving skills with ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
• Advanced level of people management skills, demonstrating the ability to lead, mentor, and develop associates; including the ability to delegate key areas of responsibility
• Ability to be flexible when needed, take initiative, and demonstrate accountability.
• Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge
• Advanced knowledge of accounting/finance theory and application and financial reporting
• Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department/team projects
• Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
Preferred:
• Advanced knowledge of investments and investment accounting
