Morgan Stanley (“MS”) is a global financial services firm that conducts its business through three principal business segments—Institutional Securities, Global Wealth Management via Wealth Management (WM), and Asset Management. WM’s network includes approximately 15,000 Financial Advisors with total client assets of over $1.5 trillion. WM provides comprehensive financial advice and services to its clients including brokerage, investment advisory, financial and wealth planning, credit and lending, deposits and cash management, annuities, insurance, retirement and trust services.
Morgan Stanley’s Private Banking Group (“PBG”) provides cash management and lending products and services to serve the needs of WM clients and seeks an AVP as part of the Privacy Office. The AVP will report to the PBG Privacy Officer and will ensure the timely delivery of new privacy program elements while adequately managing risk-related functions for projects and program initiatives already in progress.
The AVP will be based in Purchase, NY.
Key Responsibilities:
• Partner with business units, legal, risk, and compliance teams to ensure business is conducted in accordance with applicable data protection and privacy obligations, including coordination of Privacy Impact Assessments for all new technologies and processes.
• Conduct business unit monitoring activities to ensure privacy-related activities are in compliance with firm policies & procedures, identifying and managing open issues/action plans as appropriate.
• Maintain metrics and reporting for senior management and committee presentations.
• Conduct annual assessments of privacy-related controls as part of the firmwide Risk Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process.
• Participate in implementation of new processes and procedures as a result of regulatory changes.
• Participate in various internal reviews and readiness examinations to ensure the business is adequately prepared for all audit, compliance and regulatory reviews.
• Coordinate and track end-to-end review of new business initiatives overview process, scheduling working group and monthly operating committee agendas and overseeing vetting of all new initiatives, campaigns, strategies, and promotions impacting PBG.
Qualifications
• Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience; preferably in privacy and/or financial services industry.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment, both independently and as part of a team, under tight deadlines and with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently, efficiently and effectively.
• Strong project management and reporting skills.
• Attention to detail, strong analytical, quantitative, and investigative problem-solving abilities; with the ability to make actionable recommendations from data analysis.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; capable of writing documentation, training users in complex topics, making presentations to an internal audience, interacting with external vendors, and interacting positively with upper management, colleagues and clients.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
