Tax Operations Manager, Vice President
Job Summary
The Tax Operations Manager is a seasoned professional as well as a Tax Ops business liaison who will manage components of the day to day functions of Tax Operations and development, implementation of an enterprise wide US Tax Documentation, Withholding & Reporting solution.
Responsibilities
• Issues identification, escalation & participate in FATCA strategy projects as it relates to compliance with FATCA and Chapter 3/61 IRS regulations across various business lines
• Manage internal controls, operational risk framework, metrics, KPI/KRI to ensure regulatory compliance
• Function as an Operational Tax SME, process reengineering expert and a liaison with Corp Tax, Business Partners, Compliance and Risk
• Partner with internal stakeholders from various parts of the organization and drive successful outcomes cross-functionally
• Manage daily Tax Documentation Validation of IRS Form W-9 and Form W8 series
• Monitor and approve daily Back Up, NRA and FATCA Tax Deposits
• Support Year End Reporting of Form 1099, 1042S and filing of the Firm Returns 945, 1042 and 8966 including any State Tax Reporting
• Process (IMY) Intermediary Allocation and Withholding Statements
• Handle B/C Notices and liaise with Corp Tax to abate any penalty notices
• Play a leading role in coordination of the Tax initiatives including completion of open action items as it relates to the roll-out of the program.
• Assist in the development of evaluation and migration of un-remediated tax processes/deliverables.
• Create and maintain documents for tracking statuses, meeting minutes, follow up action points and progress of Ops/Tech projects.
• Interact with Technology, businesses and the rest of Operations to manage change programs and issues resolution for these tax processes
• Assist in the preparation and execution of project documentation, including project plan/milestones, business requirements, and process flow diagrams including test case/use cases preparation and provide assistance in leading UAT execution efforts.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field
• 5-8 years financial services experience
• 3+ years Change/Project management experience
• 3+ years MS Project, Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint experience
• Must be experienced with Tax Compliance Systems: such as Broadridge-ADP, IMPACT, Markit-CTI, 1099/1042S PRO, Stone River, Convey etc.
• Project management Qualifications (such as PMP or Six Sigma)
• Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills and an excellent communicator at all levels
• Must possess excellent documentation skills
• Must be delivery-focused and able to meet aggressive delivery dates
• Deep passion and expertise in financial systems and Operations Management
• Finger-tippiness with data: you just go get the data you need with no muss/fuss. Should know how to leverage data to make decisions without getting stuck in analysis paralysis
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with aggressive timelines
• Self-motivated with great attention to detail, project management and organizational skills and demonstrates strong ownership of tasks
• Skills to author requirement documents, technical specifications.
