DESCRIPTION:
International Wealth Management is the primary control group for the Morgan Stanley Smith Barney U.S. (MSSB) international business. IWM Risk assists in developing controls to seek to ensure that MSSB does not trigger international securities regulations, which controls generally concern the review and approval of new international account requests, international business travel, address changes to international jurisdictions, review of recruits with international business and surveillance and testing of the activities of the firm’s Non-Resident Clients (NRCs). IWM Risk is also responsible for both developing, implementing and supporting strategic risk initiatives and projects.
The position will report to the Head of IWM Risk.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Review accounts for compliance with IWM and Legal guidance, and approval removal of red flags where appropriate
• Assist with compilation of metrics/reports on international business
• Assist with remediation of clients’ accounts in response to local law changes
• Assist with coordination and content creation of international training
• Assist in the creation of systematic controls to mitigate risks associated with the international business
• Work with functional partners in legal, compliance, AML and tax concerning IWM related matters
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 7 years of industry experience, preferably in wealth management or private banking
• Prior Experience working in a compliance, legal or risk management function
• Experience with international business is a plus
• Strong collaboration skills across both the corporate and field structures
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills
