Overview:
The Senior Director, Portfolio Marketing plays a critical role in driving the success of our overall portfolio (services, products, industries) through the implementation of sound marketing tenets. The position has a thorough understanding of the relevant business strategy, supports that strategy through the development of a firm marketing strategy, of one and three-year marketing goals and of an integrated annual marketing plan. This is a highly visible position that has a tremendous influence on service line/product/industry business results and future growth. Responsibilities include:
• Enhance the partnership and collaboration with the service line/product/industry to support their growth plan. Educate team on tenets of a modern business to business marketing organization by delivering results and marketing support that goes beyond their requests.
• Drive and support end to end market opportunities through collaboration with other marketing leads.
• Secure primary and secondary research to identify global trends, assess market data (market sizing, segmentation, customer buying preferences), global customer needs, competition and channel and end user targets.
• Work collaboratively with and influence the marketing organizational design and processes to drive effective integrated sales and marketing strategy and tactics. Work with business operations team to measure and report global metrics such as profit and loss, share, customer penetration and market adoption and conduct and analyze win/loss and customer satisfaction/NPS data and QA process.
• Develop 3-Year Strategic Market Plan and work collaboratively with the Marketing Demand Center to develop a 12-18 month marketing plan, including a campaign structure that supports the objectives of the business plan. Oversee and monitor execution of plans.
• Recommend vertical merger & acquisition targets, if any.
Essentials:
• Develop a thorough understanding of the market, products and solutions, competition and trends and translate that to related services/products/industries. Spend approximately 10-15% of time in market.
• Define the overall marketing strategy that best supports the business strategy and drives predictable, repeatable demand. Partner with the demand center and campaign organization to deliver marketing campaigns based on thorough understanding of buying process and market segmentation and structure.
• Lead and manage a team of solution managers, whose roles are to develop a solution roadmap, marketing strategy, competitive value proposition and differentiation and solution campaign elements for their assigned services/products/industries. Develop business and marketing capabilities and leadership qualities of team members.
• Own and develop messaging architecture.
• Drive sales and marketing alignment, collaborate with sales enablement team in the development of effective sales tools, field communications and other sales support.
• Cultivate and sustain working relationships with industry key opinion leaders who can play a role in supporting business/marketing objectives.
• Monitor industry trends (e.g. industry regulations, technology trends, macroeconomic conditions, business processes, challenges) and terminology, and act as an industry subject matter expert. Leverage knowledge of market and trends into tangible assets.
• Consider the building of and/or participate in a JLL Advisory Board.
• Manage and optimize marketing budgets.
To succeed, this individual must network effectively across the organization and industry to build a broad perspective and a range of resources. The incumbent must work as an effective collaborator, becoming the business advisor.
Relevant skills/experience:
• Product management/marketing and industry marketing experience
• Understands business analytics and how to use them to drive decision making
• BS or BA degree; MBA preferred
• 5-10 years related work experience in vertical market planning, strategy or general management
• Minimum of 3 – 5 years at a senior management level leading teams
• Successful track record in developing, building support for, and executing vertical strategic plans
• Exceptional Communication Skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate ability to promote and defend strategy and execution tactics as well as company’s value propositions. Ability to represent JLL as a senior manager, giving thoughtful and forward-looking presentations. Persuasive.
• Accountability – Bright, self-starter who possess the ability to work independently and be able to take diligent initiative to foster progress by influencing and leading peers, executives, and partners who are not under direct control.
• Organizational Skills - Proven ability to work on multiple projects and with multiple individuals simultaneously. Highly organized and outstanding time management skills. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and initiatives with resources that have no direct reporting structure and differing goals. Proven execution skills and creative thinker. Exhibits flexibility, open-mindedness and adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.
Job requirements:
• BA or BS degree in business field required; MBA preferred.
• 15+ years’ experience in portfolio marketing
• Previous product marketing, portfolio marketing or vertical/industry marketing experience strongly preferred
• Related industry experience
