Manages designated product line(s) in support of the Organization's goals and market needs. Defines the overall strategy related to product planning and development for applicable business segments and product groups. Responsible for establishing and directing both long-term strategic planning and annual operating plans. Evaluates potential product development projects for feasibility and value. Oversees the evaluation of market trends, product development, and product position and pricing philosophy. Recommends enhancements to product line to stimulate sales and meet objectives. Drives business and financial results through the selection, design, development, and promotion of new and existing products. Serves as a product champion by deeply understanding customer requirements and market landscape and communicates these requirements and objectives with multiple teams across the Organization. Defines and leads the product strategy and roadmap, and works with other Lines of Business to meet those requirements.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1. Plans and directs a comprehensive products and services plan to help guide Organization resource allocation and technology planning efforts. Responsibilities include:
a. Acquires and maintains changing product information for all products supported.
b. Determines goal sets for Lines of Business that will deliver on the financial plan.
c. Develops competitive analyses and pricing models to formulate recommendations and parameters for pricing implementation in various markets.
d. Assesses product lines’ abilities to meet market needs and business objectives, innovates and develops business cases to fill gaps on an on-going basis.
e. Identifies and monitors competing products, pricing and customer response.
f. Works with assigned support areas for enhancements, modifications, and corrections to applications that support product lines.
g. Provides business and technical solutions to end-users by marshalling the required department resources needed to affect the solutions.
h. Manages the creation, development and introduction of new products and services to enhance the current and future product mix.
i. Develops and implements marketing programs for new and existing products and services that capitalize on business opportunities to target new and existing customer segments and respond quickly to competitor information.
2. Contributes to the innovation and development of tactical initiatives and positioning that drive portfolio performance, including pricing, marketing, and program design.
3. Presents initiatives and policy changes to gain executive buy-in.
4. Maintains high-level knowledge of features and functionality of the appropriate banking applications that affect the assigned business unit operations, and supports other areas of the Organization as subject matter expert.
5. Oversees analysis and database development in support of ongoing reporting, ad-hoc analysis, and strategic marketing tactics of assigned and other product portfolios, product lines, and services.
6. Supports the strategic alignment of product and application support to accomplish developed business plans.
7. Supports the development of strategy and alignment with the corporate strategic plan by performing the following responsibilities:
a. Researches industry trends, competitor offerings and vendor products to effectively conceptualize and implement future value-added features and services
b. Manages all applicable vendor relationships
i. Coordinates all product relevant system upgrades/releases
ii. Conceptualizes new features/functionality to provide value to our end users
iii. Supports the strategic alignment of product and application support
8. Collaborates with Employee Development in preparing appropriate information for product knowledge training and writes technical product descriptions for internal and external consumption.
9. Supports the Organization’s commitment to ongoing quality service enhancement by participating in multi-disciplined guidance and project teams as appropriate.
10. Communicates status of projects, product changes and other group initiatives to all employees.
Bona Fide Occupational Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, or related field of study, or equivalent work experience required.
2. MBA, advanced certification(s), or progressive product management experience preferred.
3. Excellent written and verbal communications and trouble-shooting skills, strong vendor management and negotiation skills, and strong database knowledge and experience.
4. Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in banking operations, budgeting/profitability, technology, marketing, and/or product development required.
5. A minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience preferred.
