The position of Lending and Relationship Specialist is responsible for assisting loan officers with basic to advanced credit-related activities and special assignments including: ordering loan documents; assisting loan officers with tracking and updating ticklers and needs letters; gathering credit information on current and potential borrowers; conducting account research; ordering preliminary title reports; processing consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments or advances; assisting loan officers in ensuring loan requests are complete; and other duties as assigned. The Lending and Relationship Specialist promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services.
Responsibilities
• Assists loan officers with credit reports on current or prospective borrowers as necessary for all related interests.
• Conducts account research to assist customers with loan activity and update customer banking relationship portfolios.
• Assists loan officers with credit request process; orders preliminary reports (e.g., title, flood, UCC, Secretary of State, etc.).
• Processes consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments and advances.
• Reviews loan requests prepared by loan officers to ensure completeness; follows-up to obtain missing data; inputs applicable data and obtains loan documentation from the Loan Documentation Department ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Works with insurance agents and customers to obtain insurance documents prior to loan closing.
• Disburses loan proceeds per loan officer instructions.
• Provides effective customer service through his or her own example along with appropriate follow through with involved customers and employees.
• May sort and distribute daily and monthly loan reports to applicable loan officers.
• May process various loan reports.
• May prepare and process expense reports for loan officers.
• Performs official notary services as required.
• Assists loan officers with verification of funds with mortgage companies and contractors.
• Assists loan officers with various assignments or special projects as directed.
• Answers telephones; responds to direct loan officer or customer inquiries in the absence of the loan officer, loan balances and payoff requests; directs callers to proper Bank personnel.
• Cross-sells the Bank’s products and services, referring customers to appropriate staff as indicated.
• Solve problems relative to processing and servicing of loans.
• Updates loan officers of collateral status; researches credit worthiness and appropriate collateral positioning are achieved.
• Prepare and coordinate financial and loan documentation for scanning.
• Prepares and sends commitment, and engagement, letters.
• May assist Loan Officers with managing loan portfolios; conduct direct customer contact to update financial and credit information.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Two (2) or more years related experience and/or training or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
◦ Work related experience should consist of lending terminology, credit requests process, loan boarding, insurance policies and general loan documentation background.
◦ Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
◦ Notary Public preferred but not required
• Intermediate to advanced experience, knowledge and training lending activities, processing and terminology.
• Intermediate knowledge of related state and federal loan regulations and other Bank lending policies.
• Intermediate skills in personal computer operation, word processing, spreadsheet and loan documentation system software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.).
• Typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
• Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
