Position Overview
The Executive Director of Healthcare Quota Share Underwriting uses their healthcare insurance expertise to manage and perform risk evaluation and underwriting activities for the Healthcare Quota Share non-traditional product line. Provides strong project management skills to facilitate a multi-disciplinary cross functional team working through large and complex deals. Uses strong communication skills and knowledge of health insurance products to drive profitable results. Provides high level expertise in the development and implementation of products.
Responsibilities
• Directs and leads all aspects of a Product Line including evaluation of risk and underwriting for healthcare reinsurance products. Analyze data, evaluate characteristics of reinsurance arrangements, apply relevant experience, appraise opportunities, collect and analyze data and monitoring monthly results and emerging legal/statutory changes. Ensure that RGA can administer the client’s proposed reinsurance. Develop and manage relationships with clients, and provide service.
• Provide project management over a cross functional deal team performing marketing, underwriting, actuarial or other services. Manage communications with internal stakeholders and external parties to smooth deal flow.
• Oversee and manage key and/or complex accounts and or product development.
• Lead cross functional teams to develop and implement new products. Monitor and evaluate existing and proposed federal and state health laws and state statutory requirements.
• Contribute to Healthcare Quota Share team profitability by analyzing/assessing assigned client profitability through experience and expense analysis and attention to assigned account performance.
• Conduct UW value added services for assigned and other accounts.
• Expert representation at industry presence at meetings (AHIP), publish and present topics, develop services and as assigned lead services.
• Participate, as a subject matter expert, leader or team member, in special projects, committees, meetings and client presentations, as required.
• Facilitate and/or conduct audits and facultative underwriting, with approval authority on facultative cases.
• Direct and manage underwriting tools, processes, and services. Serves as lead facultative provider and expert.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent related work experience
• 10 + years of healthcare reinsurance underwriting experience or 9+ years healthcare insurance underwriting experience
• May require up to 50% travel
Preferred:
• ASA or FSA actuarial credentials
• Pricing, product and statutory knowledge of comprehensive major medical products including individual exchanges, commercial group, Medicare Advantage or Medicaid.

• Highly advanced ability to comprehend and interpret insurance and contract documents
• Highly advanced ability to learn and apply multiple client underwriting guidelines and underrating systems quickly and accurately during an onsite client audit.
• Highly advanced ability to comprehend, analyze and apply vast amounts of medical and financial information quickly to making sound financial underwriting and risk assessments.
• Highly advanced knowledge of insurance principles, underwriting policies and procedures and guidelines for dealing with risk analysis.
• Highly advanced knowledge of medicine, law, accounting, and finance as applied to the evaluation of reinsurance risks and of insurance risks.
• Highly advanced knowledge of industry practices, trends and applications and the ability to communicate this knowledge to clients and apply it to meeting clients’ needs.
• Advanced PC skills, Word and Excel
• Expert knowledge of the products assigned
• Ability to work online, either at home or remote
• Travel required.
