Position Summary:
Kemper is seeking an experienced field HR Generalist to work as the primary HR presence in our Phoenix, AZ office. You will enjoy a variety of HR related duties to support the HR department and local Kemper employees. Responsibilities will be in the following functional areas: employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, policy implementation, benefits, compensation, event and meeting planning, etc. In order to support HR initiatives, occasional out of state travel to other Kemper offices locations in CA will be needed.
Position Responsibilities:
• Manage the day to day Human Resource functions in the local office to provide ongoing support and assistance with the administration of all Human Resource related programs, policies and procedures. Recommend new ideas and approaches to policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department
• Support recruiting activities and on-boarding of new hires including first day paperwork, file creation, new hire orientation, assistance with benefit enrollment, etc.
• Partner with local management on basic employee relations issues and disciplinary actions
• Assists HR Business Partner with LOA, FML, WC and unemployment claims administration
• Maintains human resource information system records (HRIS). Provides onsite employee support for UTA, UltiPro and general HR questions
• Assist with the establishment and maintenance of various employee engagement programs or related special events.
Position Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in Human Resources.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in positions of increasing responsibility.
• Experience working in financial services/insurance preferred.
• Strong change and influential leader with experience working in a transformational environment.
• General understanding of CA and non-CA HR employment law and other government compliance regulations is preferred
• Bachelor's degree, preferably in human resource management or related field or equivalent level of experience, training and education.
