As the Commodity MarketStrat, you are a thought leader in Commodities and you play an integral role on the trading floor in driving the business, developing our customer relationships and partnering with our investor clients to help them form and express their views. Throughout the spectrum of products and commodity markets, you are offering comprehensive, quantitative and differentiated insights both as written content and through client meetings.
OUR IMPACT
Working closely with Sales and Trading, the MarketStrats team is an integral part of the business with primary focus on developing our client relationships through unique and outstanding analysis and content. MarketStrats are thought leaders in the various asset classes of the Securities Division. Combining product and market expertise with strong quantitative skill-sets, we provide the firm’s clients with unique insights and help them discover and structure the most attractive investment opportunities. The team’s span across all asset classes also gives every member a unique cross asset view and understanding of market dynamics.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
You will help Goldman Sachs grow its footprint across commodity markets and partner with clients to give them an “edge” in their investment process. You are passionate about the markets and have industry experience, an outgoing personality that likes to engage with teammates and clients, and a quantitative bend. Your primary responsibilities will be attending and leading key external meetings, working with the trading desks to generate insights, ideas and in depth analyses that differentiate us from our competitors, and creating materials that you and the team will use to pitch clients.
You will leverage Goldman Sachs’ position as an industry leader and full service firm to help serve our clients with increased value and build a strong personal brand as a thought leader both internally and externally across our client base.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Basic Qualifications
• Multiple years financial industry experience with passion for macro markets
• Expert product knowledge of commodity markets
• Previous experience working with traders and portfolio managers
• Clear critical thinking, strong communication skills, creativity and ability to self-start
• Basic quantitative and technical skills in time series data, statistics and probability
Preferred Qualifications
• Sell side financial industry experience
• Frequent client interactions
• Basic coding skills or an engineering background
• Advanced degree is a plus
