US Bank’s Corporate and Commercial Banking business line offers lending, equipment financing, leasing, depository services, treasury management, capital markets, and international trade services to middle market commercial, large corporate, institutional, and public sector clients. Corporate and Commercial Banking Risk Management (CCBRM) is led by the Business Line Chief Risk Officer and works with the business to help identify, control and monitor the risks inherent to its business activities.
A strong risk program is built upon a firm foundation of data analytics and effective risk reporting. The Director of Risk Reporting and Analytics manages the data analytics needs for CCBRM, including compilation of existing risk metrics and other risk reports across Corporate and Commercial Banking, and implementation of new Key Indicators (KI) to monitor risks and controls found in the business line. The incumbent will also establish qualitative and quantitative techniques and processes used to obtain raw data and then categorize, manipulate and convert it into information useful for decision-making.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership, coaching, and strategic direction for the Data Analytics, Risk Reporting and KI teams reporting to this position.
• Partner with Risk Assessment and Control Monitoring teams to identify key risk and control indicators (collectively, Key Indicators). Compile KIs from several sources, including but not limited to: risk appetite statements, enterprise risk programs, and business line risk assessments. Tie KIs back to Risk Assessments and produce KI reporting for various stakeholders.
• Along with the Data Analytics manager, perform analysis of requests for the production of data analytics reports to determine level of complexity, necessary report controls (completeness, accuracy, restricted access), and prioritization of requests in the queue.
• Work with the KI Manager, Quality Assurance Director, and other key individuals to develop metrics that will support conducting risk assessments for business line products.
• Explore and implement tools to help the department be more effective presenting data to Corporate and Commercial Banking management, including data visualization tools, dashboard tools, survey tools, etc.
• Provide strategic direction and support for reporting of risk related data across Corporate and Commercial Banking.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
• Ten or more years of work experience in Audit or Risk Management
• Previous experience leading teams and developing team strategy
• Strong analytical, logical reasoning, risk management and problem solving skills
• Strong interpersonal skills including oral and written communication skills
Preferred Skills/Experience
• Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or other related discipline.
• Experience in the financial services industry
• Understanding of operational risks in a financial institution
• Experience working with financial data and reporting
• Strategic thinker with effective project management
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously
• Knowledge of products and services offered by the Corporate and Commercial Banking business lines
