JOB PURPOSE
The Collections Specialist is responsible for collections of delinquent accounts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Performs collection activities on delinquent accounts by corresponding with customers by telephone and/or written communication.
•Maintains accurate record of past due accounts and collection efforts and continues with follow-up actions.
•May work with consumer lines of credit, mortgage, credit card, and/or installment loan accounts.
•Prepares requests for charge-offs and performs skip tracing duties and works with outside vendors to recover collateral.
•Responsible for ensuring collection activities are performed in compliance with established policies, procedures, CFPB and applicable laws, and within regulatory time frames.
•Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes.
•Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual or job-specific training.
•Maintain a working knowledge of Bank's written policies and procedures regarding Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security and other regulations as applicable to this job description.
•May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert.
•Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES n/a
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•Completion of High School, vocational training, or equivalent.
•6+ years of delinquent loan collection activities or equivalent work experience
•6+ years of Retail Banking or Home Lending experience preferred
•Specialized experience, reading, writing, and basic arithmetic skills.
•Advanced negotiation, problem solving, time management, analytical and organizational skills
•Knowledge of department procedures, practices and policies.
•Ability to use office software (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, etc.) and equipment.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
•Work involves sitting, occasional walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
•Requires close visual acuity.
•Normal office environment.
