Job Description
The OppenheimerFunds social media team is responsible for the planning and execution of the firm’s social media marketing strategy. The social media team is currently cultivating audiences on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google+, Periscope (via Twitter), and Instagram. Several of the firm’s senior leaders are active on Twitter and LinkedIn, and the social media team works closely with Editorial in the development of content creation and oversees the posting of content to those platforms. The team manages a YouTube channel for content syndication of the firm’s videos. Additionally, OppenheimerFunds uses Hearsay Social to enable select members of Distribution to post approved content on LinkedIn, and the social media team oversees the creation and curation of the content housed within the Hearsay Social library. As part of the Public Affairs group, the social media team leads the posting and interaction strategy, design, community management, and project management of the firm’s social media platforms. The team works directly with key partners throughout the firm, to build social experiences that engage our core audiences of financial advisors, individual investors, and institutional investors.
The Social Media Associate reports directly to the Social Media Manager. We are looking for a motivated, thoughtful, outgoing individual with a passion for social conversation that accomplishes specific business goals.
Principal Responsibilities:
Content production
• Manage content creation process for social media interaction and syndication platforms from ideation to posting, including securing appropriate partner approvals and retaining appropriate records
• Partner with content-creating groups across the firm to develop social strategies for specific initiatives, and produce content tailored to social channels
• Create social media strategies in support of broader marketing campaigns, and manage their execution
• Oversee content creation of paid social campaigns and oversee agency execution and reporting of paid campaigns
• Help manage social content calendar
Interaction & community management
• Partner with internal stakeholders including Legal and Public Affairs in flagging sensitive or potential reputational risks identified on social channel
• Cultivate an engaged audience through targeted posting and the creation of content that responds directly to community needs
• Monitor interactions across the firm’s social platforms and the presences of the firm’s senior leaders
• Recommend responses and escalate issues to appropriate parties including social media agency
Analysis and measurement
• Work with internal and agency analytics teams to understand engagement and interaction across social channels
• Manage monthly and quarterly social reporting in collaboration with social media agency
• Partner with content-creating groups to increase effectiveness of content and community interaction, based on data-driven insights
• Perform competitive and ex-industry analyses to advance understanding of best practices within Digital Strategy Group and partners
Operations & project management
• Collaborate on day-to-day workflow with social media agency
• Manage launch and ongoing maintenance of interaction and syndication properties, including text, visual, and web-development assets
• Control access to passwords and administrative rights to the firm’s social media platforms, including performing a periodic access entitlement review
• Assist with management of archiving all social media posts and interactions
• Partner with social media agency, Digital Strategy Group, Web Development Group, Integrated Marketing, Editorial, and other content-creating teams to facilitate tasks across all of the above work streams
Qualifications
Competencies for Success/Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree
• 3-5 years demonstrated professional experience in the social media field
• Familiarity with social media content production and community management tools
• Brand or integrated marketing experience (client side), or social media agency experience
• Excellent writing, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Experience in financial services or another regulated industry a plus, but not required
• Experience launching and optimizing paid social campaigns a plus, but not required
• Experience with enterprise software solutions a plus
