Morgan Stanley Home Loans has centralized its operations and is expanding its retail Mortgage Lending Division. We are looking for the best of the best to provide premier mortgage services to our clients. As part of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, we have a partnership with Morgan Stanley’s retail brokerage network that provides a limitless proprietary source of inbound business.
The Executive Director – Strategy and Execution candidate will be a member of our Home Loans Oversight and Control team. The candidate will be responsible for representing Home Loans Group and acting as the central point of contact with our partners including Technology, Legal, Compliance, Operational Risk, Financial Control Group, Operations as well as, Home Loans management for Mandatory Change the Bank (MCTB) portfolio. It is important that this individual be knowledgeable with the Wealth Management platform and end to end mortgage origination and servicing process. The business scope of these activities covers the client lead process utilizing subsidiary applications and digital platform through processing, underwriting, closing/funding, servicing and other downstream processing. This role is under the supervision of the Chief Control Officer.
The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing and implementing mandated initiatives while collaborating with functional partners.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Management of MCTB portfolio as well as, strategic initiatives within Home Loans
• Manage a team to execute MCTB and strategic initiatives within Home Loans
• Perform analysis of contractual requirements to effectively create business requirement documents
• Inventory and analyze Day Two change requests for further integration between the LOS and third parties and Wealth Management systems
• Inventory and prioritize LOS remediation changes to reduce manual processing and enhance automated controls
• Analyze LOS enhancements to further tighten security within ELC including data integrity and entitlements
• Work with business owners to confirm requirements
• Work with Technology to define and confirm business requirements
• Create Business Requirement documents for each MCTB project
• Review SRS to confirm business requirements were adequately captured
• Collaborate with Bank PMO to identify steakholders, maintain program status and timeline, and report milestones
• Delegate and effectively manage MCTB projects to direct reports
• Supervise all MCTB projects within the Home Loans portfolio
• Write and/or evaluate test scripts used for UAT
• Coordinate with Technology and Business Functional Leads for system updates
• Coordinate UAT with business owners
• Track and confirm appropriate supervision of UAT and production deployment
• Ensure firm policies and procedures are followed for change management.
• Maintain ALM to properly document application changes
• Maintain SharePoint Change Requests inventory to ensure proper documentation and approvals are obtained
• Establish and manage regular routines with Technology to stay in sync with regards to any MCTB or RTB implementations
• Establish interaction model between Business, Technology, and Functional Business Owners for MCTB portfolio
• Prepare and provide status updates to Home Loans management
• Ensure Compliance and Operations Risk approves changes to confirm regulatory compliance
• Manage the publication and communication process for MCTB and other initiatives
• Manage testing for system updates (may be nights and/or weekends)
• Lead Home Loans with recommendations and performance excellence initiatives
• Support Home Loans employees with questions about ELC and other applications
• Run meetings with business partners and Workstream leads
• Perform other project tasks as directed by the Chief Control Officer
• Communicate in a manner consistent with the Firm’s culture, value and ethics
• Promote professional development and continuous improvement amongst direct reports
• Review and monitor the performance of direct reports
• Ensure that effective feedback is being provided consistently to direct reports
• Limited travel
Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
• Seven to ten years of PMO experience on large projects
• Must have prior experience in, and command of, the Systems Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) methodology
• Must have prior experience in writing Business Requirement Documents
• Must have the ability to build consensus across teams
• Successful management of projects and teams
• Working knowledge of Loan Origination Systems (LOS)
• Deep Mortgage Industry knowledge (preferred)
• Solid understanding of the mortgage life cycle (preferred)
• Experience working with cross-functional teams
• Must have excellent teamwork orientation and the ability to work independently in a fast moving environment
• College degree required, advance degree a plus
• Private Bank experience (preferred)
• Strong Computer skills a must; familiar with how to navigate SharePoint and a Microsoft Windows environment and have a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office software
