Our Human Resourcesdepartment is seeking a Senior Employee Relations Consultant to join our team in our Worcester, MA office, with flexibility for other locations in the Northeast region.
Position summary:
This position performs a wide range of analytical, problem solving and consultative support activities for internal client groups with a significant focus on Employee Relations. The role provides consultative and complex HR Services support that not only impact the immediate, but also impact future state and change efforts. The role utilizes basic consulting and influencing skills to deliver high quality decisions in keeping with company policies and state and federal employment regulations.
This is a Full-time, Exempt role.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Lead expert consulting on the day-to-day functioning of employee relations and other HR services, programs, and processes.
Provide expertise in area of specialization, ensuring that partners in the business have considered all appropriate alternatives.
Apply advanced knowledge in innovative ways.
Act as a key source of information for the business by providing perspective and consulting on key HR issues.
Determine gap between current and ideal state then lead the implementation of ideas for improving accuracy and efficiency of HR-related processes and systems.
Lead engagements with partners in the business to ensure full knowledge and adoption of HR programs and systems, using expert knowledge of the business to build support for processes.
Influence change and recommend process improvement.
Enterprise-wide HR project participation / management.
Key Measures of Success:
• Ability to coach and consult with others to solve problems
• Ability to recommend, document and influence process improvements
• Ability to collaborate with others, manage projects and deliver high quality analysis
• Ability to deliver high quality decision within Employee Relations.
Position Requirements:
Minimum 10 years of experience in human resources preferably in an employee relations or HR Business Partner / Generalist role.
Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s or MBA (preferred)
Proven experience managing workplace investigations
Ability to stay current on applicable regulations and properly apply the law to situations is also expected
Ability to effectively problem solve through a systematic approach to asking questions, understanding root causes and confidently influencing others
Demonstrated success working independently as well as part of a team
Must have the ability to prioritize effectively and perform tasks quickly and efficiently
Excellent influencing, communication (verbal and written), organizational and analytical skills are also required
Must have the ability to think strategically, be flexible and easily adaptable to change
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
• Ability to operate basic office equipment and sit in front of a computer screen for extended periods of time
• Ability to move about the office to interact with co-workers
• Ability to work extended hours during peak work periods, in a fast pace environment and under the pressure of stress to deliver; Periodic car/air travel to other locations as needed – approximately 10-20%.
