Job Summary:
Residing within Risk Governance, Strategic Risk Management is the newest of the organization’s eight primary risk stripes. We work across the organization, to understand the strategies being implemented, the impact these strategies will have on our Risk Appetite, and assess whether the organization is managing the risks to effectively execute its strategies.
As a member of the Strategic Risk Management team, you will be advancing the company’s risk management culture, structure, processes, and tools, in support of the Strategic Risk Management Framework. You will develop a strong understanding of the framework, and the linkages between strategic planning and risk assessment. You will then use that understanding to interact closely with senior managers across the primary business lines, risk management, and Corporate Strategy and Development, to drive the production of recurring assessments of Strategic Risk. This work will span across all of the organization’s primary business lines, the second line risk types, and outer support areas (including ISA, Finance, Human Resources, and Regulatory Affairs).
Primary responsibilities:
• Lead the production of the Risk Assessment of the Annual Strategic Plan.
• Lead the production of a quarterly Strategic Risk assessment for management and board committees.
• Lead the production of the quarterly Strategic Risk Self-Assessments by business lines.
• Coordinate Strategic Risk Working Group activity.
• Assist in day-to-day strategic risk framework activity, including addressing open issues and making further framework enhancements.
Qualifications
• Superb interpersonal skills, and experience working with multiple business areas in a collaborative and productive manner.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with senior management.
• Ability to draft high-quality assessment and reporting materials with an attention to detail.
• Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability in managing a multi-week assessment production cycle.
• 7-10 years demonstrated progressive experience in risk management or a relevant area (audit, finance, planning).
• Strong analytical skills & problem solving capabilities.
• Experience with strategic planning a plus.
• Detail oriented and well organized.
• Strong work ethic, ability to work independently, make decisions, and work under tight deadlines.
