Operations is one of the largest divisions in the firm and has diverse responsibilities, including correctly settling and recording millions of transactions per day, identifying and mitigating all operational risks, developing strong client relationships and partnering with technology to realize the full potential of IT and e-solutions. Throughout, the Operations department continually seeks ways to improve while actively supporting the development of new businesses, structures and markets.
Morgan Stanley Client Service, Risk & Control Business Management offers a unique opportunity to work with WM Operations management within the Global Ops Chief Operating Office department. The position supports the Head of Client Service / Risk & Control Ops, working to prepare strategic plans, support resource management, present monthly financials, manage budgeting and forecasting processes, and oversee metrics and unit costing. It offers broad interaction with the operational service teams and risk and control functions.
The candidate will work closely with the CRSC Lead Business Manager and participate in the full scope of the groups responsibilities. This candidate will be responsible for:
• Resource management which includes the creation, maintenance, and approval of hiring requisitions, maintaining the critical hire tracker, weekly offer prioritization, monthly headcount forecasting, reporting temp to perm ratios, updating monthly org chart, temp approvals
• Financial management inclusive of preparing monthly financial review decks and monthly accruals. Involves financial analysis, including research of drivers for deviations from forecast for comp and non-comp, and update of monthly scorecard metrics
• Monthly forecasting (R&O) and annual budgeting- includes working with the Ops line teams to obtain business growth projections to help forecast headcount and vendor expenses, submitting in Firm systems, developing bottoms up T&E budget, preparing review decks.
• Handle coordination of central functions (e.g. location updates, vendor TFRs, invoice processing & review, furlough monitoring, collection of industry affiliations)
• Support ad hoc modeling requests for strategic initiatives
• Assist in the development of unit cost
Qualifications
Skills Required
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Detail oriented
• Organized and strong project management skills
• Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with business management and support teams across multiple locations
• Experience managing multiple projects concurrently
• Strong sense of urgency and ability to work under pressure
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is a must.
