VP, Special Asset Management

SAM is a team within the Credit Risk function of Barclays International. The SAM team acts as a partner/adviser to various functions across the bank when facing challenging/special situations. The SAM team advises Credit Risk & Coverage on exposure to counterparties where deterioration in credit risk is clearly evidenced to the extent that timely or full recovery is considered to be at risk. SAM regularly takes over the full relationship management as well as the credit role for counterparties managed by the Group. SAM works with the counterparty, other creditors, financial and legal advisers to maximize recovery for the firm.
VP role within SAM managing a diverse portfolio of turnaround, managed exit, impaired and legacy assets originating both in EMEA and APAC. This portfolio may include bilateral exposures, multi bank syndicated or club deals and /or leverage finance assets.
Your Role
• Management of restructurings and workout efforts, working both independently as well as with senior team members on assigned cases.
• Preparation of reports and presentation to senior risk management, audit, regulatory reporting, Finance, and other internal groups.
• General responsibilities commensurate with a credit officer, including writing of credit and committee papers/memos and maintaining appropriate information in credit risk systems.
• Personal adherence to governance, compliance and lending portfolio controls, and conformance regulations applicable to your role.
• Participation in and contribution to a range of internal and Group projects which the team supports from time to time, including the implementation of IFRS9 and various information requests.
• Managing restructurings, amendment requests and other projects, working and/or negotiating with both external stakeholders (including borrowers, bank agents, other lenders, external counsel and consultants) and internal stakeholders (including Banking/Relationship Coverage, Wholesale Credit/Risk, Portfolio Management, Sales & Trading, Counterparty Risk, Non-Core, Legal, and Finance.
• Analysis of restructuring situations and amendment requests, including strategy development, implementation and execution, with the preparation and presentation of approval request memos to senior credit sanctioners.
• Independent performance of i) complex credit analysis, including cash flow and financial statement modelling, covenant forecasting, and debt sizing, and ii) valuation methodologies, including DCFs, M&A precedent transactions, comparable company trading analysis. Such analyses are used in impairment recommendations and to set restructuring/recovery strategies.

• Preferably worked for a consultancy in the past
• Strong background in financial analysis.
• Expertise in all Microsoft Office applications and applications relating to financial and credit analysis.
