The Team:
Morningstar Credit Ratings, LLC is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as a nationally recognized statistical rating organization (NRSRO). Morningstar Credit Ratings issues credit ratings on a variety of security types including corporate and structured finance securities. This Morningstar subsidiary aims to increase market transparency by providing the highest-quality ratings, securities research, monitoring services, operational risk assessments, data, and tools.
The Role: We are looking for problem solvers, analytical thinkers, and solution initiators in the asset-backed and collateralized loan obligation spaces. This role will provide unique opportunities for mastering the key aspects of our business from in-depth collateral and deal analysis to client interaction. You will be part of a team responsible for rating asset-backed securities (ABS) and collateralized loan obligations (CLOs). This position is based in New York.
Responsibilities:
Analyze the credit risk in asset-backed securities by performing tasks that include modeling cash flows and reviewing legal documentation.
Interact with issuers, bankers, legal teams, and investors.
Participate in credit rating committees and help to prepare and present rating committee presentations.
Collect, organize, and analyze data from internal and external sources for use in criteria development, ratings, and research reports.
Assist the team in building and maintaining various databases relating to ABS and CLO transactions.
Requirements:
A bachelor`s degree.
Three to five years of experience in a relevant field.
Excellent writing, communication, and quantitative/analytical skills.
Creative thinker who is adept at taking an analytical approach to problem solving.
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and Sequel software.
Experience with Intex, T-REX, and Bloomberg is a plus.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with experience in commercial/esoteric ABS or CLOs preferred
Good presentation / communication skills with ability to effectively interact with groups across divisions
Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
Demonstrate attention to detail
Drive and enthusiasm with a team orientation
