Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Consumer Lending Credit Policy, this position is responsible for supporting the credit policy governance function within the Consumer Lending division. Responsibilities include involvement with unsecured lending policy. Supports an active inventory and status of new change requests that are referred to the department. Collaborates with key business partners in insuring key benchmarking information regarding peer/industry are documented for comparison. Participates in the final editing and review of the formal proposals submitted to the Unsecured Consumer Lending Credit Policy Council. Participates in periodic review of lending policy to ensure they maintain alignment with operational processes and industry and regulatory trends. Participates in maintaining active logs of all in-process and approved policies, to include status on implementation and system release dates.
Major Responsibilities:
30% - Provide direct support for the unsecured consumer credit policy administration and governance process. Work with others within the risk management group to evaluate credit policy recommendations and work with business partners to remediate any concerns. Ensure all proposals have comprehensive risk assessments incorporated into the written proposals, including impacts to asset quality measures as appropriate. Ensure completeness and timeliness of all required materials for inclusion in the policy review process and submission to appropriate forums and committees. Contribute to maintaining department risk reports that are produced on a monthly/quarterly basis.
25% - Develop strong working knowledge of unsecured consumer lending policies and systems that support credit origination processes. Serve as knowledge resource for policy questions and interpretation. Cross-train with and serve as back-up to other team members. Ensure critical functions and processes have appropriate risk controls. Provide recommendations to management for opportunities to improve controls as appropriate.
15% - Provide administrative support during internal and external credit related audits (i.e., CEA, OCC, etc…).
Provide direct support in the development and coordination of responses to internal audit and regulatory agency recommendations. Coordinate cross functional support to develop solutions to address audit observations. Provide periodic updates to these action plans in formal monitoring systems and ensure the business unit meets established deadlines. Provide updates to senior management on periodic basis regarding resolution status.
15% - Participate in annual policy review process with the 2nd line of defense risk team, as required. Evaluate opportunities for improved policy efficiency and consistency. Support periodic updates on policy performance and results to division leaders and formal committees.
15% - Contribute to maintaining department’s required reporting that are produced on a monthly/quarterly basis, to include submission of Policy Council minutes, policy change summaries, and other documentation to be provided to Risk Governance, 2nd Line Risk and other partners. Make adjustments as new products or segments are introduced that would impact standard reporting. Ensure reporting is accurate by cross-referencing with other available information. Participate in maintaining appropriate EUC/SOX controls on select processes as assigned.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting is required.
• Position requires 5 – 7 years of experience in a consumer lending environment with strong credit underwriting skills (i.e., tax return and financial statement analysis).
• Experience with unsecured lending programs and policies, including credit card and consumer loans and lines of credit is desired.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all levels of bank personnel, including senior management.
• Advanced PC skills in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint is required.
• Ability to conduct basic data segmentation and summarization with Excel Pivot tables or similar application is desired.
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills, with ability formulate policy recommendations in unstructured environment.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with business unit leaders to resolve issues is required.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, collaboration across functional teams to achieve results.
• Ability to effectively interact with other associates within the organization to achieve results
• Effective project management skills with ability to manage time across concurrent projects.
• Ability to effectively collaborate and partner with other business units to solve business issues in an unstructured environment.
