Responsibilities
• Provide tax advisory services to financial institution clients of DHG, including recommendations on tax return positions and tax planning opportunities
• Review and provide expertise in income tax accounting, included but not limited to effective tax rate and deferred income tax positions
• Firm wide technical resource on financial institution federal income tax matters
• Proactively research existing and proposed tax law to determine impact on clients’ financial position; present finding / recommendations to clients as appropriate
• Supervise team and leverage their skills and abilities to effectively and efficiently complete tax engagements
• Review work papers prepared by staff; recommend changes, additional documentation, research, and / or calculations as necessary to comply with applicable tax law and Firm policy
• Grow client base through new business development activities such as speaking engagements, attending networking events, tradeshows, and industry meetings; educate clients and prospective clients on the breadth of services Dixon Hughes Goodman currently offers
• Recruit, train, and retain staff using the Firm’s formal mentoring program and through informal performance reviews, on-the-job training, and post-engagement debriefing

Qualifications
• BA or BS in Accounting or related field required
• Masters in Taxation preferred
• 15+ years of recent public accounting or other relevant income tax experience required
• 10+ years of previous experience working with/for financial institutions in the area of income taxation required
• Strong experience in corporate income tax accounting, including ASC 740 (FAS 109) required
• Heavy experience with GAAP accounting and SEC reporting for financial institutions required
• Regulatory capital experience a plus
• Mergers and acquisitions experience a plus
• Experience with tax technology provision tools a plus
• Active CPA license required
• Strong client relationship skills, strong accounting and analytical skills, and strong research proficiency all strongly preferred
• Strong computer skills: proficiency required in OneSource, CorpTax, ProSystem FX, BNA and MS Office preferred
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% required
• Director role for qualified candidate is subject to approval from Firm Executive Committee
