Description
The fixed income portfolio manager plays a lead strategic role in the delivery of fixed income solutions to Morgan Stanley Wealth Management financial advisors as part of the Managed Advisory Portfolio Solutions (MAPS) team. The job function includes the creation, implementation and management of fixed income portfolios. Portfolio construction will primarily focus in municipal and corporate bond securities. The candidate should be well versed in corporate bonds, municipal bonds and preferred stock. A portfolio management or construction background will be preferred. The candidate will be expected to interact frequently with financial advisors.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Create fixed income model portfolios for internal Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs)
• Create custom fixed income solutions for high net worth financial advisors
• Create, implement and manage municipal and corporate bond portfolios
• Develop and innovate new fixed income investment product options for use in portfolios solutions for CG and Custom, delivered by PPG to support a single portfolio construction environment to scale business
• Work with internal marketing sales force to advertise internal fixed income solutions
• Participate on field marketing calls and provide updates on field calls to discuss performance and market strategy.
• Work with financial advisors to create fixed income solutions on the Consulting Group advisory platform
• Work with financial advisors who want to transition their fixed income assets from brokerage to advisory
• Play a key role in growing Advisory platform AUM
• Travel to meet clients and financial advisors
• Work with Legal and Compliance to support Managed Advisory Portfolio Solutions
• Core partner in Advisory investment committee administration (CGIC), as well as working with internal portfolio and asset management teams to coordinate CG Portfolio offerings
• Participate in top advisor educational offsite seminars
Qualifications
• Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Licenses and Registrations
• Active Series 7, 66 (or 63 and 65) and 24 registrations
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to think critically
• Strong attention to detail
• Extensive knowledge of municipal and corporate fixed income markets
• Experience in fixed income portfolio construction and management
• Working knowledge of Advisory services (i.e. SMA, UMA, Overlay implementation)
• Ability to interact with senior management team, Financial Advisors, support staff, third party relationships, and corporate and field personnel as needed
• Ability to own projects and lead teams in day to day activities
• Ability to organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and complete projects
• References to support fixed income experience
