Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC seeks a Vice President, Trading Desk Strategist in New York, New York to
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Function as a Desk Strategist within the Securitized Products team. Liaise with traders on risk analysis, risk reporting, and value added trading strategies. Responsible for the creation of product valuation models, trading strategy analytics, and risk and valuation tools to be used by traders and fellow Desk Strategists to better understand risk and to better identify market opportunities. Determine and create valuation and risk management models that feed the Firm’s books and records for positions that are currently on the books, about to be purchased, or bid upon. Create models and strategies the desk uses to drive trading decisions and monitor and analyze the effectiveness of current valuation and risk models and champion and enact new developments as needed. Liaise with traders to analyze and advise on managing the risk of the positions currently on the books, to analyze and identify revenue positive trading opportunities, and to structure on the design of new products.
Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a PhD in Financial Mathematics, Statistics, Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology, or related field of study using statistical techniques and 1 year of experience in the position offered or as a Quantitative Analyst, Desk Strategist, or related occupation. Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Financial Mathematics, Statistics, Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology, or related field of study using statistical techniques and 3 years of experience in the position offered or as a Quantitative Analyst, Desk Strategist or related occupation in lieu of a PhD and 1 year of experience. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the following skills: experience with kdb+/Q; experience with Excel and VBA; experience with one of the following statistical languages: R or MATLAB; experience with one of the following object-oriented programming languages: Java or C++; experience with one of the following scripting languages: Perl or Python; experience with machine learning and data mining; experience with the design and implementation of algorithms; and experience with probability theory.
